It comes down to the simple fact that you always get what you subsidize. In the name of kindness and humanitarianism, we're creating entire generations of government dependents -- wards of the state. To me, our current crop of nanny state people are no better than early missionaries that taught against birth control so the Christians would out-reproduce the non-Christians. I care about the health and happiness of my crystals (stones and minerals). Why on earth would I subject them to being in the presence of someone who doesn't believe they are feeling entities?

I kind of feel sorry for Plunk. He finds so few good substitutes for RedSam and I fear I'm making a piss poor job of it. The best he has to bait me with is either capitalism, spirituality or the (illusory) war between the genders (I know the man actually does care about the environment to some degree, those debates are jokes of shams). Really, they're all inherently stupid things to debate over, if you think about it

Unfortunately, we live in a culture that encourages inferior human genetics (physically, mentally, intellectually) to not just survive, but thrive and achieve reproductive age and reproduce ... to excessive degrees, in many cases (horrible woman, aren't I? I fully admit, if there is reincarnation, I was a Spartan in a past life).

This is how I feel every time I see people who are low enough in IQ to be getting government cheddar for their condition toting kids along to the social services office. It's ridiculous. Those people should have to submit to sterilization as a condition of the free ride for life. Welfare cases too: if you are a woman collecting welfare, you should have no choice but to get depo-provera shots in order to qualify. Because of this subsidized breeding for idiots/lazy slobs, they are controlling the vote in many areas...allowing them to vote in politicians who run on the platform of plush social service funding. Which brings me to my next point: if you haven't been gainfully employed during the previous administration, you should not be allowed to vote in the following election (unless you are retired). Why should people who don't foot the bill have any say?

I didn't say genes were the be all end all of sexual preference determinants. Sexuality is a complicated thing, but just like I can't make an argument that homosexuality is 100% something you're born with or not (which I'm not trying to do, btw) I think it's ridiculous for Glad to argue that it's cause is purely environmental.

I agree. I've talked with several normal, reliable people who are unbiased by their religions, and they all agree that they just felt that way from day 1. And I don't understand why anyone would decide what's right or wrong about it. Who knows; maybe it's another means of natural population control while keeping people happy?

I'm straight, and I don't see anything wrong or weird about gay/lesbian lifestyles. If I were Gay, I'd be just as happy and no guilt, although I'd be angry that some other people scorn it. Some people drive Fords & some drive Chevys... That's a choice which is formed by surroundings. Some people like vegetables and some don't. That's a thing you're born with, just as your sexuality. You can force yourself to eat veggies, just as a gay man or woman can force him/herself to live a hetero life by denial and lies to self and family, but it's just as miserable as the veggie-hating vegetarian. And the world continues to turn.

Not to criticize, but do think the phrase "defect" is a tad harsh. My stepdaughter has a form of autism (Aspergers). I like how they refer to "regular" people as "neurotypical." Neurodiversity, is a good way to think of how different people may process information.

My stepdaughter is not brain damaged, she just has a different way of viewing the world and she cannot be MADE to view the world, or process the information that she receives, the way I do. It's a different way than the majority of the population processes information, but it does not invalidate it, and in some ways she is more adept than a "normal" person.

Y'know one observation I made about being gay? Cultural considerations aside, in a lot of ways, it's easier than being straight. Men understand the male mind, women understand the female mind. Think of it this way, you got a man and a woman in a long term relationship. He's tired and a little horny, she's reading a magazine and watching t.v. All he wants to do is fuck and go to sleep, seriously. He doesn't want to hear the bullshit about her day at work, the crap with her parents and their kids. He just wants a little natural endorphin boost and to go to sleep with a pleasant mind set. But can he say "Hey, honey, let's go fuck." NO. She'll turn it into so shit where he thinks of her as an object and doesn't care about her feelings and she's having a fat day and blah, blah, blah ...

Now, you got two GUYS in a long term relationship. SAME fucking scenario, one major difference. One guy says to another guy "Wanna fuck?" The other guy either says "Sure" or "Nope" and that's the end of it. No stress, no need to go through some dance, no need to read into it, no need to stress about why he said no or yes or what else he wants ...

You see what I'm saying?

As for the whole "cock up your ass" thing. Again, you're making WAY too much out of it, and in the right frame of mind, it can be, if not enjoyable, at least stimulating (for both men and women). Every inch of our skin has nerve endings, how you choose to perceive those sensations, whether you choose to take advantage of that avenue of experience and possible pleasure, is your prerogative. Frankly, anything that happens between consenting adults, as long as everyone is happy, is nobody elses business.

Life's too short to turn your back on happiness. How anyone can say love between consenting adults, poly, bi, homo, hetero, etc., etc., etc., is wrong? Who are they to judge? Whatever persuasion makes you happy, live in joy and goddess bless and to hell with anyone who says otherwise.
