So Mike Vick is Indicted on Dog-Fighting Charges... What an utter scumbag.

He was already a no-talent QB. Now he's a no talent human.

Vick himself took part in 8 executions of dogs including death by shooting, hanging, electrocution, and slamming them against the ground.

I hope someone shoots this fucker in his asshole straight up so the bullet goes out the top of his head.

---

(CNN) -- Atlanta Falcons officials released a statement saying they were troubled by the charges against star quarterback Michael Vick, who faces up to six years in prison if he is found guilty of involvement in a dogfighting ring.

The Tuesday statement followed a Virginia court's announcement that the Falcon phenomenom had been indicted. It also came a week before the Falcons kicked off training camp in preparation for the August 10 preseason opening game against the New York Jets.

"Our club and team will continue to be tested as Michael works through the legal process toward a conclusion," the Falcons' statement said. "We are prepared to deal with it, and we will do the right thing for our club as the legal process plays out."

The statement added, "We are disappointed that one of our players -- and therefore the Falcons -- is being presented to the public in a negative way, and we apologize to our fans and the community for that."

Vick faces criminal charges for allegedly participating in an enterprise that trained pit bulls for death matches in which spectators bet on the outcome, federal prosecutors announced Tuesday.

Vick, 27, and three associates were indicted by a federal grand jury in Richmond, Virginia, on a conspiracy count alleging they bought and sponsored dogs in an animal fighting venture and traveled across state lines to participate in illegal activity, including gambling.

According to the indictment, dogs that didn't show enough fighting spirit, or that lost matches, were put to death by a variety of methods, including shooting, drowning, hanging and electrocution. Prosecutors allege that on one occasion earlier this year, Vick participated in killing eight dogs.

A National Football League spokesman said the allegations against Vick would be reviewed under the NFL's personal conduct policy.

"We are disappointed that Michael Vick has put himself in a position where a federal grand jury has returned an indictment against him," said spokesman Brian McCarthy. "We will continue to closely monitor developments in this case and to cooperate with law enforcement authorities."

If convicted of both portions of the conspiracy charge, Vick could face six years in prison and a $350,000 fine, according to a statement from the U.S. Attorney's Office for the Eastern District of Virginia.

No arrest warrants have been issued, and Vick and the other defendants -- Purnell Peace, 35, of Virginia Beach, Virginia; Quanis Phillips, 28, of Atlanta, Georgia; and Tony Taylor, 34, of Hampton, Virginia -- have not been taken into custody, said Jim Rybicki, a spokesman for U.S. Attorney Chuck Rosenberg.

A judge is expected to inform Vick and the others of the charges against them Wednesday and make arrangements for them to turn themselves in, Rybicki said.

Vick, a standout at Virginia Tech who was the first player chosen in the 2001 NFL draft, is one of pro football's highest-profile and highest paid players. In 2004, he signed a 10-year, $130 million contract with the Falcons.

The dogfighting investigation began in April, when authorities found 54 pit bulls on property Vick owns in Smithfield, Virginia, about 30 miles west of the Norfolk area where he grew up.

There was no immediate comment from Vick on the indictment. He had previously said that while he had a kennel operation on the property, he had no involvement in, or knowledge of, a dogfighting ring.

But the indictment issued Tuesday charges Vick was intimately involved in the operation, known as "Bad Newz Kennels," and that he bought the Smithfield property for $34,000 for the purpose of going into business with Peace, Phillips and Taylor.

Between 2001 and April 2007, Vick and his associates bought and trained pit bulls and hosted dogfights at the property, and dogs were also taken to locations in at least six other states to participate in fights, prosecutors said.

The owners of the winning dogs collected purses that ran into the thousands of dollars, and spectators also placed side bets on the outcome, prosecutors said. After one of the "Bad Newz" dogs lost a fight in March 2003, Vick personally paid $23,000 to the winning dog's owner, who is now a cooperating witness for the prosecution, the indictment said.

According to the indictment, an unidentified associate from Bad Newz Kennels admonished another participant at a dogfight who yelled out Vick's name during an event in the fall of 2003 -- a participant who is also now cooperating with prosecutors.

The indictment also alleges that Vick and his associates "rolled" some of their dogs -- testing them in short fights to determine how well they might fight. Dogs that failed the test were killed, prosecutors said.

While most of the dog killings noted in the indictment were allegedly carried out by the other defendants, Vick himself participated in the killings of eight dogs in April, according to the indictment. The animals were killed "by various methods, including hanging, drowning and slamming at least one dog's body to the ground," the indictment said.

He is a disgrace.

It was an operation that crossed state lines. If I remember correctly, in these cases state/locals have no authority in interstate crimes.

50's were straightlaced
60's & 70's were free love slutbanging hippies
80's & 90's were yuppie conservative

see the connection?

I'm 100% serious.

where do you draw the line, at what animal?

and what's cruel? define it. accidentally forgetting to feed your dog lunch? a day? 3 days? then you die?

so animals have souls? do you own leather sir? how about burgers, do you like them? define a humane death.

I have no problem killing animals for purpose. It is, afterall, how nature continues and humans survived.

The boundary for me is when animals are tortured. Especially for entertainment purposes. Nobody or no thing should ever have to physically suffer unneccesarily.

Now personally I believe some "animal crazy" people take it too far and are complete idiots.

It's funny how they are in an uproar when a cute animal gets killed, but nothing is said when it's a big ugly animal being killed. lol.

i read in SI that dog fighting is justified in the area due to the cultural b.s of the area and the peoples' involved. it just makes me nautious to think about what happened to these animals :rainbow:

that's exactly the response i would have given.

you gotta kill to eat, there's no way around that. if this were 2000 years ago, we'd be doing the same thing just with bow and arrows and swords and shit.

far as leather, cows are already killed for food, might as well put the rest of the body to use. we all know every part of a cow pretty much is used for something.

torturing animals for entertainment is definetely crossing the line and disgusting, and on a side note, i personally believe animals who are farmed should be slaughtered humanely and be given ok living conditions. if this was BC, they would be freeroaming and we'd have to hunt them. dog eat dog world (lol)

And it's not at the same level as killing animals for food. According to the indictment, they'd kill the dogs that weren't good enough fighters. One dog was soaked in water and electrocuted.

I grew up very poor and dog fighting is NOT okay.

If he really is guilty, I would like to strangle him with my bare hands.

CONSPIRACY INDICTMENT COULD BE TIP OF ICEBERG

[Editor's note: We acknowledge that there will be plenty of Mike Vick stories on the Rumor Mill today, and possibly beyond, in light of Tuesday's unprecedented indictment of a prominent NFL quarterback on charges of conspiracy to engage in animal fighting and gambling. There are many angles and layers to this story, and we are committed to being the media outlet, "real" or otherwise, that stays on top of the case.]

One thing that has gotten lost in the shuffle during the initial reaction to the surprising news that Mike Vick has been indicted by a federal grand jury is that he has only been indicted for now on conspiracy charges.

Conspiracy is a separate and distinct crime. Vick can still be charged with the underlying crimes. Under the federal gambling statute mentioned in the conspiracy indictment, Vick's penalty is up to 20 years.

Then there is the federal RICO law, which was devised in part to assist in the dismantling of the Mafia. The RICO law directly targets ongoing gambling operations, and the facts set forth in the indictment could easily satisfy the requirements of a RICO claim. Under Title 18, Section 1963 of the U.S. Code, the penalty is up to 20 years in jail.

And don't forget about the possibility of a state-level prosecution. Though most observers assume that Surry County prosecutor Gerald Poindexter has abandoned the investigation, the federal indictment could prompt Poindexter to explore animal cruelty charges, given the allegation that Vick participated in the killing of approximately eight dogs in April 2007. Alternatively, the Virginia Attorney General could feel compelled to act.

Under Virginia law, the intentional killing of an animal is a Class 6 felony, which carries a sentence of one to five years, per count. For killing eight dogs, that's a potential sentence of anywhere from eight to 40 years.

It could be that the feds opted to pursue conspiracy charges first because conspiracy charges were the easiest to prove to a grand jury. Next, the feds can turn to other potential charges, such as the underlying crimes mentioned in the current indictment or a RICO violation.

The bottom line, then, is that things could get worse -- much worse -- for Vick as time goes by.

The DA Poindexter is black and used the race card in support of Vick.
He also said there was no evidence of anything going on there.
He was pandering to the media as he was trying to elevate his persona since he was running for a higher level job this year.
He stopped investigating the case.
The Feds step in and voila a HUGE case unfolds.
BTW. This whole thing happened by chance.
They were arresting his cousin at the property on unrelated drug charges when they saw everything.

he'll probably hire some awesome shark jewish lawyer that will get him off.

such is the system of america.

although i really don't hope that happens

When I was about 10 or 11 I had a very mean step-father. He brought home roosters and dogs sometimes, but my mom did not allow him to keep them at our house. He occassionally did that stuff, and I used to cry and beg him not to hurt animals.

One day during summer break he brought home a pit bull and tied it up outside. He warned me that NO ONE could go near that dog. It was a trained fighting dog and extremely dangerous. My parents left for the day, and I watched the dog out the window. It was hot, and no one had left the poor thing any food or water. So, I tiptoed out to the dog and gave it food and water very cautiously. Then, I patted him and he looked so relieved. When my parents came home, I was out in the yard snuggled up taking a nap with the dog.

I begged them to let me keep the dog and not to hurt it. I got beaten and the dog got shot.

Some people just don't have a heart. There is something fundamentally wrong with them.

Keep in mind the NFL has a strict policy on gambling.
They can void his contract if convicted.
He may also be suspended immmediately.
Vick met with the commissioner and stated he never took part in any of that activity.
They have proven he was involved over the last five years.
Not only that he killed a few dogs the same month he met with the commissioner.
He and Pacman Jones should be in jail together.

I am the proud owner of 2 pet pits, a male and a female. They are sweet and lovable and they adore kids! Sick f**ks like Vick make me wanna go postal. I would be more than happy to soak that mudda with water and fackin shock his ass until he fries.

that's the state's perogative. . .big brother doesn't need to get involved. . .i'm sure the state's crime lab is more than adequate to handle the investigation. . .it's absolutely irresponsible (with the current state of affairs. . .fucking nuts running around the u.s. looking to blow shit up) to use a federal crime lab for anything other than hunting and prosecuting those that would do us "national" harm. . .regardless of the perceived heinousness of the crime, the bottomline is that no matter how many pitbulls are destroyed in the process, we as a nation are not any safer because our federal government chose to employ their resources to curtail dog-fighting. . .in fact, imho, pitbulls are basically worthless (the were specifically bred for a singular. . .and now highly illegal. . .purpose) and the less of them that there are around, the less likely it is that i will open up my paper and read about another baby getting eaten by one.

also, if it was slat1 that got caught, do you think that the FBI and other federal authorities would have gotten involved? fuck no. they got involved because it was a supposed "high profile" person and some senator's wife was chewing on his balls about this terrible dog fighting thing. . .it's bullshit. . .and it's a waste of federal tax dollars.

is dog-fighting wrong? imho, YES. but it's no less wrong than the federal government sticking their nose in a state or commonwealth's business. . .when they got enough of their own damn problems (much more scary problems) to deal with.

i'm sure the douchebags at al cunta are loving this. . .while our federal government wastes it's efforts on dog-fighting and steroids, they step up their efforts to finalize plans for their next attack that will certainly cost many HUMAN lives.

Well, people betting tens of thousands of dollars to watch animals get tortured and killed at a national celebrity's home when he's present and planning and hosting the fights is kind of big-ish, right? I don't give a fuck about a bunch of stolen cars that are covered by insurance. This is just awful.

The feds get involved more than you think.

There was a 12 yr old russian girl who got grabbed here on 4th of july. The feds came in. That was strictly local. They got the fucker locked up, a fucking worthless imigrant. They need to torture him before they kill him.

Also FEDS intentionally go after high-profile cases because they get the most coverage to set precendents for future cases and the public. Same as Federal Courts.
