So I got a shit BA degree. Anything I can do aboout that now

*raised by damn fool parents who told him engineering was lower than poli sci or international relations degrees.
*cant get into law school because of criminal record and bad morals
*Thinks wall street doesnt care about that pesky stuff and wants to be a derivatives trader

*thinks being a derivatives trader involves getting a engineering or comp sci degree (?), so wants to get "quicky engineering/MBA degrees"
*used to think kids who were into science/engineering were geeks and nerds and now has changed his mind
*still sucks at life

lol

1) Not that many quick engineering degrees out there.

2) MBA w/o some type of underpinning (undergraduate in science or engineering) isn't nearly as useful.
3) Careful with the priors. Any job that involves moving or influencing tons of money will come with a really ugly background check.

4) Derivatives are a blend of computer science, mathematics and finance. I have no idea what the job market will be like in a post-reform era either.

What??? Most CEO's have technical backgrounds (engineering) with MBA

I'll be fair and honest with you:

You won't get a job on Wall Street.
You won't get a job trading derivatives.

Just accept that now, and move towards something more realistic. (Hey, I want to be an astronaut, but it's just not going to happen.)

B-school? If it's not a T20 with partial/full ride, or T10, don't waste your time or money.

Law school? Upper T14 or nothing. Law's worse than finance.

Going back for an engg UG? Are you willing to compete with younger, smarter, harder-driven students who are likely smarter than you? When's the last time you even used multivariable calc? Will it be worth taking on more debt and losing 4-5 years of opportunity value/salary?

What, exactly, is it that you want?

That's the idea though. I'm eying #13 and #7. 13 is very possible for me as that is where my brother goes and to some extent we have some contacts there that will help out. They helped him out.
Either way, as one of the guys here said, lot of CEOs have engineering background as well as a lot of times an MBA. Essentially the nerdy ones don't end up as CEOs but the outgoing who have a pair work out well. That's the idea.
Doing an engineering degree and setting myself back in time would be a burden so it could be useless.

Tell me your UG GPA, school ranking and LSAT/GMAT and I can advise you as to your chances.

Tuck/Haas and UVA, I'm assuming? Your work experience better be damned good if you don't have relatively recent latin honors from a top UG. Are you looking at FT or PT?

No actually I wouldn't be the typical candidate but the program I'm eying is the NYU stern. My GPA should be around 3.6. My practice GMAT score is in the 700 range on constant basis without too much preparation. I studied with a girl who got into one of the top 3 mba programs in EU. I'm also trying to get time and a half for having ADHD. I know its bs but I need the time and a half.
Now the big thing for the programs I mentioned is the fact that i would be getting references from the faculty of those schools, one of the references is currently running for the dean I believe.
I worked for the biggest commercial real estate investment company for a year or so, then there was a period of about 3-4 jobs that I quit within days or weeks cuz they blew and now I work for the world leader in a high tech cellular company.
As I mentioned also I was born in a war torn country, transferred 11 different schools and moved a few countries to get to where I am now. I am fluent in 6 languages etc etc and was involved in athletics and blah blah blah.

you don't have a fucking clue what you want to do in the lifetime do you? It's ok, you're one of about a billion....but seriously, get a handle on your life first. Don't get into something for the money because as we've seen, income's in various fields can fall through the floor on a dime. Take healthcare....if you're a guy who became a doctor simply because you wouldn't tolerate this existence without a 300k salary, than the next few years are going to suck for you. If you became a doctor because you're a gold standard human being...then you don't fucking care. The caveat in that example is that most of these doctors are loaded down with debt....there will be some help for them though.

Honestly I want to own my own business, I mean I can start a landscaping company or something of that sort but that just wouldn't cut it. My family owns a small business with a solid good 6 figure income with not too much work but that's not it either. Right now me and my brother are doing import export on a smaller scale which is growing pretty fast but I think a good MBA would give me better opportunities and increase my chances of attaining my goal.

Stern's ranked 9th this year.

Dude, stop talking about sports. Grad/professional schools could not possibly care less. They won't care about your life story, either -- they train business leaders, not college freshmen.

Your GMAT is below Stern's FT average. Subtract about 50-75 from your practice scores to extrapolate your real score, which would still be below their PT average.

Not sure what you mean by "my gpa SHOULD BE 3.6" -- are you still in UG? This is only important if you're a recent grad, because:

Stern's average work experience for incoming students is over 4.5 years. And that's relevant experience with consistantly increasing responsibilities.

The references that matter for bschool are professional work references. Faculty/admin can give a good word, but you must first meet the entrance criteria -- that means glowing LORs from companies.

Where will you get the $80+k/year for this program? Have you calculated loan payments for GradPLUS (6.5%, fixed) with over $100k in debt?

Without knowing your work experience, NYU is definitely a reach... and probably not worth the application fees.

If you want to own your own biz dont go back to school unless you have to have some sort of licenses for the field you want to get into that requires college for licensing.
College, especially b-school , teaches you how to be a good little worker bee employee for someone else.
