My wife and I are 100% together. Even if this girl lived next door to me nothing would happen. When it comes to my marriage I am solid as a rock. We all have dreams and fantasies but I can turn off the switch that would turn that into action off in a second. My wife knows I talk to her. It is not that often. The girl knows I am married too and knows the deal. If it did interfere with my marriage I would cut her off in a heartbeat and she knows that. We are friends even though there could be more there. Some relationships last a lifetime - the scope of the relationship changes though.

I decided to drink tonight. Not very often that happens. Got teacher of the year and got my award tonight. Putting in 18 hours a day did it. It was sad though. Retirement ceremony too - people put 30-40 years into teaching, they get a pretty clock made from granite and say good bye. One guy joked it was a mini tombstone and counting down the days to his demise.

I had one kid E-mail me and ask me to be his mentor this semester. This semester I had close to 25% of my class E-mail me and thank me. I nearly lost my breath. I could be making 10 times what I am making on Wall Street but I can't put a price on what I am doing now. I always put myself in their shoes and ask myself "what would I think of my professor if he did this."

Finance is important stuff too. I teach a managerial finance class and the students normally are scared or hate the material. I teach them how to manage their loans, how to budget their cars and mortgages - shit the text book doesn't teach but stuff they need to know to make it in the real world. For the first time in a long time I have finally found a new calling in my life. It feels good.

yeah until the other loser overpaid teachers get jealous - and start a smear campaign against 'teach it like it us' teacher - and complain to principle and admins that "so and so teacher isn't sticking to the curriculum" (ie: indoctrinating the kids with state-created b.s.).

It should be the Teachers going off and doing school shootings - not kids.
