Slowly, surely, making the body of my dreams

A positive post for those who despair sometimes. Just keep at it. Keep training, keep eating clean and well, keep sleeping well, keep keeping your relationships in good order, and your physique dreams will gradually come true, and along with that will come the strong but flexible mental attitude that keeps it all together.

I am very happy with my progress. I still have a long way to go on this path, and who knows, maybe the end of the path is not what I'm aiming for, but hell, what a journey!

Ladies, don't stop. Yes it takes a long long time, but so does anything worth doing well. So do it well.

:)

Oh boy -- how I needed to read this today. Workout strength/stamina wise has been good....but what I see in the mirror has been lagging in progress.

Thanks for making me smile (and yes, tear up a bit).

Great post Steel, one that those looking for a quick fix should be referred to.

It is easy to get frustrated by the sometimes slow progress, so it is nice to be reminded that the journey is what makes the end worthwhile.

BUT I WANT IT YESTERDAY!!!!

LOL

This applies to all facets of life.... thank you for reminding me. :)

You do realize that we're gonna be the best looking and strongest people in the old age homes, right? It'll take a lot of attendants to hold us down when they try to force us to eat mush. :rainbow:

Oh MrsPuddles...you by far are the best spirited and must spunky. Hmmm....however you are wrong....we are NOT going to the old folks home....we will be out hiking or lifting...anywhere but there!

So you have a partner, in say, err ahhhh 30 years or so, okay?

My husband commented that my traps are getting bigger. I don't see the changes as they are gradual, but he does. And he's right, they are getting bigger.

:D

Old age home!!! Please god no! I thought that's why I was spending all this time training! To NOT go there. Unless my mind decides to take a dive on me - I guess there's not much one can do about that.

newgirl, things worked out in my room like this - somehow, a pic of my now ex-trainer (sigh) in contest shape, is reflected in the mirror every time I look in it (no, I didn't set it up that way, it just worked out :) ), so now if I'm not quite content with what I see of me, I just look over and know that my efforts will pan out someday, with consistency and desire. If she could do it, I can do it.

And yeah, my traps are bigger, my shoulders are bigger and broader, my legs are bigger, my calves look better than they ever have, and body fat is sloooowly coming down.

Yes, it takes time, patience, planning. But like so many dreams, you also may have to alter your dreams to accomodate reality, and a large part of achieveing the 'body of your dreams' is to shift your perspectives on what that body is and can be. If your 5 foot nuttin, there's no point in dreaming of being a 5'10 leggy blonde! Likewise, not everyone is designed to be a topnotch competitive bodybuilder no matter how hard they try (or how many drugs they take or how much plastic surgery they have), but they can be lean, strong and healthy for life if they make THAT their dream.
