having trouble sleeping lately.

What OTC sleep aids are there that doesn't have an effect on you training the next day? Or what do you take the night before a competition for exapmle?

i take some benadryl, it's not a sleep aid persay but it sure does the trick with out leaving me groggy the next day. tylenol PM and nightquil leave me feeling druged the next day i stay away from those if i can help it.

ive used the ZMA before and i think it helps with sleep, i always got to sleep good, and woke up refreshed. i think the magnesium is supposed to help relax you(?)

melatonin, kava, and valerian seem to help a little. Sometimes I feel slightly groggy though especially with the melatonin. I finally said fuck it and just go with nyquil if it gets to the point where I need something. Some form of stimulants(caffeine, ephedrine) in the morning help to get rid of the cobwebs.

Yeah I've been told nyquil or benadryl. But they are cold medicine?

Has anybody tried OTC stuff that is specifically for sleep?

My buddy tried unisom, which is basically tylenol PM without the tylenol in it. He said it worked but made him slightly groggy though. Of course that might have been caused by the 3 days of insomnia before he took it though.

benadryl is an allergy medication...it knocks you out real good...but leaves me feeling really groggy the next day....

tylenol PM never seemed to do much for me.

melatonin and valerian are herbs, which can help get you into a good sleep cycle if you take them consistenly...i use melatonin.
