Simple mass gaining eating pattern...opinions

I agree...but do you need the carbs? Maybe keep the same protein and fats, but do the carbs really need to be as high? What is your diet like now, bro? And before your contest prep.....btw..looking pretty good...keep it up.........

Personally, I don't really pay much attention to fat and carbs. I just watch calories and protein. I try to make sure that my calories stay at or below my BMR and my protein stays around 200g per day. The rest falls into place. I would tend to say to keep things pretty close to the same when on days that you are not training. Your body needs more than just protein to grow muscle. I don't avoid fat or carbs purposely as long as my calories are in check. I went from 198 on Jan 2nd to 171 currently using that approach with no cardio. I think the same logic can be applied while bulking as I have applied while cutting. Of course everyone is different and you have to believe in your approach. That just works for me. Good luck bro.

I'm the opposite....I've NEVER counted calories, but mentally check my carbs and protein.....I shoot for 30-40g of pro. 20-30g of carbs and 5-10g of fat in EACH of my 6-7 meals...........no idea on calories...........

I used to do that too, then I got to thinking......What happens to excess protein doesn't get burned or excreted as waste? It becomes fat. Now to me calories are calories whether it's fat, carbs or protein. I saw you sample diet plan and I didn't do the math, but the calories appear to be pretty low.

too low brother...thats why Ive never been over 10% bf and why my gains arent coming the way I like...also why Im looking to youi for advice..........

I would definitely recommend upping not just protein intake but calorie count. I think I posted in the other thread that 40/30/30 is a good ratio to maintain for protein/carbs/fat. I would figure out your basal metabolic rate by going to google.com and searching on BMR calculator, a ton will show up, just pick one. Whatever number it tells you add at least 500 calories too it. You have have to add more or less depending on the quality of your gains. Use that 40/30/30 ratio to determine how much of what to eat though. It's gonna require some prior planning, but if it is important to you, then it is worth it. Calorieking.com or nutriondata.com are two good web sites to determine the nutritional value of just about anything that is edible.

my theory bro, if Im not getting paid, then I'm not counting calories.........I am already way to dedicated to this game, diet, training, to add another factor which will make me even crazier.....why can't I just add 500cals a day until the scale starts to move (which it hasnt in months)

You can put as much or little effort as you wish into it. Personally, I prefer to leave as little to chance as possible. If you don't compete though, there is probably no reason to be as uptight about it as I am. It is a bit of a hassle, but for me it's important enough to be as exact about the numbers as possible. There's nothing that even says that what I recommend will work for you. I'm just letting you know what I do and what works for me. I'll be glad to offer any tips or advice that I think can help. It's up to you decide what you are gonna do or not do.
