New member
i want to get as cut as possible in a little amount of time. What i am wondering is:
would 30 mins of running at night, and another 30 mins in the morning 5 days a week be too much? what about an hour each time? whats too much? and what are some of the disadvantages too it?
thanks

Unless you're dieting and supplementing perfectly, you're going to have problems with catabolism. In other words, you will lose a lot of muscle if you do that.

alright, so you think half an hour twice a day, 5 times a week would be too much? can the problems with catabolism be minimized by simply upping protein intake? or is it more involved than that?

If you plan on going that route make sure its low intensity cardio, or as gymtime said, you are going to be using your muscles as one of your main protein sources... You will definitely drop the weight like crazy.. but muscle is going to go with it....
You can always gain it back in a few months though if you need to.. muscle memory is a wonderful thing..

ok, i can always give it a try, and see what happens. im sure there are too many variables to predict the exact outcome. thanks for the help

A good thing to do if you're going to do that much cardio is to keep up your glutamine and/or bcaa intake.

Running is not the most effective fat burner. It is too intense and your body goes into an oxygen debt because of the intensity. Your body needs oxygen to burn fat, hence the lower intesity cardio workouts are better and you will be less likely to go into a catobolic state. I suggest getting a protien shake in before your cardio 50 grams or so with no carbs and doing 40 or more minutes of cardio such as walking or the bike. The protien will keep your nitrogen levels up throught the cardio and the lower intesity exercise will guarantee your body has the oxygen needed to burn fat.

Good luck and remember everything has it's price,, work hard get hard

i have a mountain bike i could ride around, but it never seems like work? i could ride for hours on end and my ass would be the only thing that gets sore. maybe if i need to go lower intensity, i will jog to the gym and walk on the treadmill with 15% incline. that seems to work pretty well.

You can't judge by how intense the exercise is. The ideal range for fat burning and this is scientifically proven (look it up) is 60 to 65% of you max for 40 minutes or so any more or less is not as effective.
