Can't wait to get my Adidas O-lifting shoes... Dress shoes aren't exactly the best imitating them.

Good job!

I hear ya, you can see my feet wobbling a lot in my BBall shoes! mine should arrive next week I hope.

Needsize - you need to right click and save as to your computer. For some reason Mediaplayer craps out if you just click on the link

Bfold - thanks for the tips, I know your only trying to help

Yeah man...only trying to help. Remember...just because it feels right doesn't mean that it is right. Also, just because an OL lifter told you it was right...doesn't mean that it is right either.

Don't close your eyes, you will lose your balance. Ask Night Fly about how she squats. Since she started to sit BACK instead of down her squat has went way up. I believe that she squatted 250 x 3 on her 5th set the other day:) :) :) (I like to brag just a bit about her from time to time).

Don't worry about quad stimulation...worry about function. More muscle being used means stronger squat. A stronger squat will mean stronger OL lifts. When at the bottom of a clean or snatch...they are NOT leaned fwd at all...they are sitting back with their hips.

well that's what front squats are for the upper body is vertical :)

And of course overhead squats for the snatch.

I had a look at this page - helpful

http://www.olympus.net/personal/cablebar/BadGood.htm

well remeber I've only been training for 6 months in the squat, so give me another year or two and I'll be doing 405lbs for reps :)

Look at how far J.V. is setting BACK with his hips on the high bar squat...

Look how far fwd they are on front squats...

That's an Athletic squat - I used to squat like that all lower back, hams and glutes. No quads, my quads actually shrunk :)
It also overstretched my hamstrings and I'm plenty flexible there.
I already do plenty for my posterior chain as is.

Olympic squat

The main thing is - the Olympic Squat is exactly how I jump as far as the hip and knee angles go.

nice lifts!! ccj, how are those olympic lifts on the knees?? and do you till point your toes out a bit when doing them??
i think i should start doing them. with lighter weights then i would do with a normal squat.
the box jumps did sorta look impressive and explosive!!
you dunking or almost dunking yet?? how tall are you??

My knees are fine, I started light and slow, to allow my tendons and ligaments to strnegth and stretch, then added 5lbs every week and over time got faster.

My toes are pointed out al the time, about 20-30degrees, its a must for balance and keeping the knee locked out.

Be prepared to be humbled, a full Olympic squat will drop your poundage a fair bit, that's why not too many people squat like this rock bottom, all these 225lb above parallel squatters at my gym would barely be able to move 135 squatting the way I do :)

I'm 5'9" I can barely dunk with one hand. Slowly getting up there though. Once I can squat 405lb for reps, I'm sure I'll be able to really sky :)

I look at the vi a couple of times and I kep seeing your right hip move slightly back as if to compensate for you quads and lower back. How is you back, do you find that you excessively sore from doing squats on your lower back??? Just asking my best gues is you need a little more back work and to work on trying to push with your hells and driving straight up...:) hope you get 275 soon

I think its more to do with my left leg being weaker, I'm working on that now with some single leg squats. Left leg is smaller.

In the past my body would shift the weight to the right leg much more when I was struggling at the sticking point. Its not so bad now, but you can still see it as you mentioned.
Also my right leg is slightly shorter so that may be another cause.

My lower back is fairly strong, I was able to deadlift 405 stiff-legged style :)
My lower back is sore, but I'm also doing romanian deadlifts, reverse hypers on the leg day as well. My lower back gets hit with bent over rows and olympic lifts as wlel so its certainly not weak.

anyway my jelly shoes are hardly ideal as well, once my Adidas weightlifting shoes arrive with the solid base and heels, I'll be better able to see any problems

Yeah 315 can't come soon enough! That was my goal actually by Christmas. Hmm maybe a long shot now, we will see. I'm gonna try some contrast training - do one set of heavy 3-5 reps, then next set at 60% of 1RM , and back to heavy and then light and so on
