sometimes i regret powerlifting instead of training for mass.

get this: at 14 years old, i weighed 235 at probably 16-18% bf. 18.5 in arms pumped, 28 inch thighs. now i bench over 300 after just turning 15 about a month or so ago, but i look like shit and feel horrible. at 18 or 19 y/o, i'd be HUGE. it would also probably be a lot cheaper for me. plus probably a lot more action with the ladies.

they're both fun, but....i dont know anymore

Jeremy...I know you've been asking alot about diet lately. I also know that it's hard to know what to do when you're still growing and so young. Your accessory work can be done in a higher rep range to reach failure if you want more size and symmetry. You really CAN have it all with WSB if you tweak it just right. Diet is really key to your concern here. You should not, physically, feel like shit...ever. Is that what you meant? I would seriously look at the nutrient intake you're getting, if so. If I were you I would be shoving as much clean food in my face as possible.

those are some big guns dude, fuck mine are 14 flexed cold and I thought they looked pretty big, fuck you. j/k

I think you should diet down from all the extra weight you put on ( I read the other thread ) , just so you see how you feel about yourself then, if you wanna PL go for it, if not go for mass.

i think you should diet down.. get yourself to feel better about your self. But continue to powerlift.. you're doing great at it. yes, your lifts will go down, but who cares?

do what you think is best. If yyou must, stop powerlifting and try BBing fora little while. see how that goes

You don't have to be fat to be a PLer. That's "old school." PL training has done nothing but make me leaner, but that's because I eat well...most PLers don't. Halbert's not fat. Blakely's not fat. Vogelpohl' not fat.

There's no sense in making a choice between being a PLer and having a nice physique.

i dont mean having a nice physique though. i mean being on the road to getting huge, and almost being there at frickin 14 years old. i have quite a few ugly-ass stretchmarks all over to prove it.

i feel like shit physically and mentally. i did a lot more stuff with people when i looked better. i was a lot more confident. just always had a great feeling knowing what i was at and where i could go. i think its more of an issue of looking very flat and chunky than being just fat. i wouldnt mind if i was huge and holding some fat..its just that i went from a very good size to a big pile of atrophy.

my diet has been like shit because i CANNOT get enough food. when i had 1-2 shakes a day, i grew at an unbelievable rate. now i dont have enough money to buy any powder because i have entry fees and shirts and bands and my own little gym at home(not complete: no squat rack)

if i wanted to BB, i could just go to the school gym and pretend i was using their program, just doing whatever i wanted when nobody was around. soooooooooo much cheaper

Perhaps we have different definitions of "getting enough food," but oatmeal is cheap. Taters are CHEAP. Beans are CHEAP. I'm not sure what that has to BB either...I cross compete in BB and eat the same no matter how I'm training.

Stretch marks are a problem, I know. 10 pound baby at 220 pounds...I know. My legs and lower back look like someone tried to scratch me to death with jagged fingernails.

What do you mean, where you were at and where you were going? Do you feel like OTHER PEOPLE don't know/appreciate/understand what you're doing in PL? Is it hard to tell people that you look the way you do for a reason?

I may be able to help you out on the gainer cost issue. I'll shoot you a PM later in the week.

Well, Jeremy...

I'm not big on gaining mass and being a powerlifter, but I do know how it can be a bitch (also being 15) sticking to your goals sometimes, and not having enough motivation. It breaks down to basically how you feel about yourself. Do you feel you've made progress? Are you proud of what you've done thus far? If so, stick with it. But if you feel the routine getting old, change things up a bit. Variety isn't necessary, as many say. You can train the same way all your life and not have any problems. When people change-up their routine and make even greater gains than before, they claim it's from shocking the muscles. Hardly. I believe it's simply finding the right form of training for you. Remember, we're all individuals, and no one routine will work perfectly for everyone. You have to find exactly what is right for you.

And even if gains aren't optimal, make sure you enjoy it as well. Don't force yourself to do something that'll make you miserable. Enjoy it, and make gains. You'll be much better off in the end, then.

my family, (extended family, mostly) cares and enjoyed watching me compete, and then theres the usual people who know you lift so they say 'whatdya bench?'...thats about it. before, people would actually look twice. i got a LOT of compliments, even from people i've never known. everything was just a lot better. i could have actually seen myself competing in BB in a few years, or at least looking like that

what i mean about not getting enough food is that in school im there for 7 hours and i get 2 meals. one at 7, one at 12:30. there's also barely any food laying around the house. i cant drive so i cant buy my own food. my parents think i only need 3 squares a day

to add to this crap, i shot a doe the other day while hunting. however, it started raining so there was no blood trail. never found it. the fukin thing was laying at the end of our driveway today, lol. all bloated to shit..what a waste

Haha, that's hilarious (the doe story) but it does suck. You can always run/walk places if they're close. I walk everywhere, but then again I'm in it for endurance, not strength. If not, explain to your parents what training and such means to you, get them to understand you need more food. If they truly care about you and they listen, they should understand. I go through the same shit man, we're the same age.
