Shoulder hurts....

Symmetry

New member
Hi guys,

I hurt my shoulder a couple of months ago..
I went to see a sports medicine specialist.. and he took XRays... He told me to take off my shirt.. asked me how I hurt my shoulder.. (going too heavy on shoulder cable flys) and asked me if I took steroids. I said no.. he didn't even look at the damn XRay and told me I didn't have a tear. He said my shoulder was inflamed and gave me a prescrition of Celebrex (an anti-inflammatory). That was it. He barely even checked my range of motion.. I even asked him.. "thats it?" and he was like. "Yip. Thanks for coming in"

Anyways,
I have been on this stuff for about a week now.. and it feels the same. My shoulder still hurts when doing anykind of pressing exercise.. and I don't want to go heavy and make it worse.

Have any of you heard of Celebrex? And what do you think about the diagnoses I got?
Summer is almost here so I have started my Cardio 3x a week.. but do not want to lose any size so I want to go heavy. Any advice on that?

Thanks.

Any way you can get a second opinion?
Celebrex is a good drug, for some people. It either works,or it doesn't.I have seen it wirk better with the chronic inflammatory diseases, like osteoartritis, rather than the acute.Docs prefer it over the other stuff because it causes less stomach problems.Ibuprofen-600mg 4 times a day may work better for you(drink lots of water)(and it's a lot cheaper!)
A book worth checking in to is called "The seven Minute Rotator Cuff Solution".You can buy it off the Human Kinetics website,or it's usually for sale in the back of Muscle and Fitness. If you plan to lift hard for a long, long time,it will behoove you to warm those shoulders up good.
You are right on going light.Don't do anything that may aggravate the problem. If it is simple bursitis, rest, ice and NSAIDS are the treatment of choice. It's still ok to go LIGHT on the presses, but check into learning some exercises that strengthen the rotator cuff. You won't be sorry.
Is it possible for you to check into an outpatient Rehab program?A physical therapist with a sports medicine background may be more receptive(and more helpful)regarding non-surgical alternatives to strengthening the rotator cuff-good luck.:rainbow: :rainbow:
