Should I lift a week before an event?

Have my first All Strength Challenge coming up on the 20th. This isn't a huge event, just a small thing put on in the town I live. However as this is my first event, I would like to have a good showing. I was curious if I should even lift next week and just rest? How about eating and supplements next week also?

Any help or suggestions would be appreciated.

one week out would probably be my last full blast workout....then Wednesday before would be my last workout period.

If you're lifting on Saturday I'd lift light probably up to thursday.

This summer we have a meet on Saturday and I'll only be participating in the bench press. Starting that monday we'll probably go real light on all our work and mainly just do a lot of presses up until thursday or friday which we will totally rest and take it as easy as we can.

I mean, like 135 for 3-4 sets of like 10 maybe. Just to stay in the groove and keep everything in order.

So I'd say go ahead and lift but keep it relatively light.

Conversely, the Westside boys don't believe in off days or pre-meet easiness.

IMHO if your competing on a Saturday and this is a 3 lift or just a regular bench meet I'm not sure you didn't specify I would honestly make my last lift day monday the 15th and then rest until the 20th. And on monday lift light, just core lifts.

I would say ifs its a three lift i would hit hit bench opener monday and rest all week.

If its bench only i would do the same on monday , but still hit light back on legs but no deadlifting or squatting at all. And definitly nothing the day before.

Thats what i do.

Sorry about being so vag on what exactly I will be doing. There will be events such as:

Sled drag
Bench Press
Shoulder Press
Rock carry
Sack toss
Deadlift

From talking with the organizers, with this only being the 2nd year for the event, most events won't be for maximum weight used. More reps for both the presses and the deadlift is a timed event. I just don't what to be to tight and I don't want to swell up to check and start burning to soon. Endurance is important.

Thx in advance.

I would do the entire contest yourself the Sunday before the Saturday contest.

With a meet like that YEA your gonna need your last day to be sunday, and ON TOP of that I hope you like NEEDLES b/c your gonna need some serious energy for a meet like that. hell from my push/pull meet I was worn out from my HS push/clean&jerk meets i'm beat.

B Fold will probably know more than most about that, hes big into strongman meets. Get all the info from him that you can.
