keep your glycogen stores for your weight training, then dump what's left over with some nice cardio.

It’s a somewhat contentious issue, but most would agree that to maximise fat loss, you want to exercise when your blood sugar levels are low, so that you tap into your fat stores for energy.

This is the reason for training first thing in the morning on an empty stomach. Your blood sugar levels will also be low post workout, as they will have been burnt as energy to lift the weights, so again, you tap into your fat reserves for energy. This also leaves you more energy for the weights workout…

Personally I have always found that cardio first thing in the am on an empty stomach works best for me, but it all depends on you! There is no one program that could possibly fit the needs of every individual. It is much more of a hit and miss when recommending a certain program to individuals, what works for me may not work for you. I would say experiment with it and see what gives you the best results! Good Luck with your efforts!!

If you are going to do your cardio in the same session with your weight training. Do the cardio afterwards. The cardio will deplete your glycogen stores, and it will greatly reduce the performance of your training. When dieting you need to keep the intensity up during weight training in order to spare muscle tissue. Muscle mass in a luxury as far as the body is concerned, and it will quickly sacrifice any lbm that it does not need once calories are cut. This is also a defense mechanism to prevent starvation. If yoru body burns off muscle tissue your metabolism will slow down, so you will not need as many calories. Thus, you need to take every measure possible to maintain what you have. Doing cardio first is a step in the wrong direction.
