here i go again, coming off a 4 day break from 2nd shift,to 3rd shift for 7 days straight, then 2 days off and go to day shift for 7 more.its really hard to keep my diet, sleep pattern straight, even screws my workouts.just wondering if anyone else does it and how they cope with it?

Ya bro, I do it too.

I work 7 on - 3 off, 7 on - 4 off and keeps going like that.

Only two shifts though. 7:00am - 3:00pm and 3:00pm - 11:00pm.

It sucks because I don't have my training partner when I am on 3-11 shift. Days off and 7-3 shift I do. It is harder then if we worked a 9-5 job, but I guess it just takes even more dedication, and that's what it's all about anyway.
:)

i guess the only thing that gets me is when i go from 2nd to 3rd,im a zombie for about 2 days.sleep pattern stays screwed up.

yes i do shift work too and it sucks ass. morning 06.00-14.00, evening 14.00-22.00 and night 22.00-06.00 . That is bad becuse i cant have stable teraining days or times.

Altough i have my own company now and i quit shift work, become rich and buy my own gym machines

I don't do shift work, but I have to travel 2 weeks a month for my job. Try THAT and tell me what takes dedication! LOL Its such a pain in the ass...finding a gym, eating right, getting bored in hotel rooms it sucks in terms of fitness goals!!! I have to brin a handheld blender and all my supps wherever I go!

If I have trouble adjusting to a slepep schedule I just take melatonin and that helps a lot!
on my last job i had to go to rochester ny for 2 months, they would fly us home every 2 weeks for the weekend.i went to a golds gym up there but after about a week of working 12-14 hrs a day i had to lay out of the gym for about a month.and i know what you mean about diet, living at a motel there is not alot of choice except for eating out, gota suck.

I do shift work,and I love it(now)-actually I work 2 days and they pay me for 5.
When I was doing nights (which i did for about 6 years)I really found that I trained better if I just went straight to the gym from work.Pop a few xenadrines, and enjoy the solitude(early morning is actually my favorite time to train). The downside was,my diet sucked(those couch potatoes I worked with ordered takeout EVERY night)
Invest in the darkest, blackest shades you can find for your bedroom, and pop about 9mg of melatonin. You drop off to sleep pretty quickly.
