ok I just got a call from a chiro friend of mine who told me he will get me a ticket to the Arnold Classic - so I get to see all of my elite fitness mentors on Feb. 29th in Ohio!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Besides jumping for joy I am panicked because I have totally let myself go and now need to lose 30 pounds! I have access to everything - as in all of the "short cuts" but really at 29% bf I am just focsuing on zero cheats and 100% organic clean eating. With that in mind and the dedication to my training - 5 days a week weights 6 hit cardio what do you think is achievable? Dare I commit to an online journal? Thanks for any input! BTW... - where is Jennscat?

Jens is around here somewhere......I think you can get quite a bit done in that time frame....clean eating and training 5 days a week will make a huge difference in the BF%

Thanks again! I could not beleieve when I found out today! I am so psyched to see all of the people that have provided us with their awesome advice on this board! - He was telling me about the expo and said that Corey Everson and others are usually there! - It's pathetic that at 43 I still have heros! - I really need to get another hobby!! - knitting maybe?!!

I am so jealous, I would love to go to the Arnold.

Here is a rule of thumb, each week you can lose 1 kg which is about 1 % bodyfat.

However, once you hit about 17%, the fat loss will be accelerated.

Any quicker, you might lose some muscle, also the skin takes a bit longer to snap back.

You will start to look really good under 20%.

You could start hitting the cardio hard, early morning on empty, then also after training, but I would not do that for the full weeks, I would ease off cardio after you see some progress, give your body a wee bit of a break, and then go back and SHOCK it again with some double cardio sessions.

Too much cardio does stress the immune system, so take some immune system boosting supps, like garlic capsules, echinacea, and also the break.

NOTHING but NOTHING will set back your progress like getting a cold or an injury.

Hope this helps.

I have had to drop about 10-11 kg to get in comp shape. I also started about 16 weeks out, I have another 2 or 3 kilos to go in about 3 -4 weeks.

I was really tough at first, it is getting easier.

I think I have had to find out the HARD way, don't pull a Lee Priest off season. And I have done it TWICE now. Third time lucky

You know, I haven't been to the Arnolds since 2001... maybe 2008 will be a good year, eh?

You can do amazing things in just 12 weeks. With 17 you will be even better.

May I suggest eating clean, weight training 2 days on, one day off, or one day on, one day off or some variant there of and as for cardio - start slowly and ramp up. Too much to begin with. The body adjusts quickly so you need to start off slowly and ramp up.

Train the five days and start cardio at 20-30 minutes 3 x's per week and when you are no longer progressing increase from there.

Maybe we'll all run into one another! :qt:

Pathetic is DEFInITELY the wrong word.

Wonderful is more applicable... don't ya'll agree?!
