Ken Lain, former world record holder in the bench press (did 708.3lbs using a single ply shirt) reported in an interview done right after his record that his best reps records were:
315lbs x 50
405lbs x 20-25
Now, Lain was even recognized for doing a lot of high rep training so it's fair to say that he was good with doing a lot of reps ... plus he was a 700+ bench presser (without the shirts used by today's lifters) and yet "only" lifted 405lbs for 20-25 reps .... a lot under what the Hawks strength is supposed to lift... I'm calling bullshit or misprint on this one.
