Re: Sassy: July 2006 - 41 & BB Bound

LOL thanks guys! The "interview", i suspected was w/ one of these career placement companies that YOU pay and they work w/ you to get interviews, etc. Honestly its intriguing - I know all about these companies - not that I think they are a scam - but more I am not sure how easy it will be to get to where I want to go w/ my own resources.

I used one of those once......basically you pay to use their database of employment opportunities? It actually isn't that bad of a deal. If your gut tells you to go for it.....GO FOR IT! :)

Re: Sassy: July 2006 - 41 & BB Bound

This company (as others I've spoken w/ in the past) - they usually have some process that is "theirs" that you have to go thru to optimize your resume, distill out what you want to do, what your skills are, etc. and then they also have a network of contacts, some companies hire them to fill their own positions, etc. And other stuff - they make sure the company you may pick to get hired is a stable company - for ex -- the company I moved to ATL to work for - 2 days after I was hired, they laid off my boss. Attempted a couple diff restructurings and most recently hired in a new CEO and completed a merger. The general feeling among the employees now is that the company won't survive a year just because of the upheaval. If I get hired & soemthing like that happens, they will work w/ you immediatley to find something else, & stay up to date w/ you for 3 yrs after that. I mean its not like its a pile of shit deal for the price, but it is not a cheap thing either.

Anyway .. I'll look more into it when I meet w/the guy again next week.

Re: Sassy: July 2006 - 41 & BB Bound

Whats up with the lack of sleep girl? But I seem to have the same problem... up every couple hours whether I like it or not :( But I do gotta say that the cardio this am was MUCH easier with the good ole cardio breeze :) (Yup first time using hehe)

Re: Sassy: July 2006 - 41 & BB Bound

A company I worked for chose not to rebid on a government contract. As a result they would be closing within a year of the date that the contract was transitioned to the new vendor. For the employees that decided to stay, they hired a company like the one you are referring to. They redid our resume's, did practice interviews, helped people decide how to dress for interviews, etc. etc. For the IT people it was a great opportunity for networking simply because everyone needs IT. The non-technical people had a harder time finding jobs simply because of the type of business we did and the fact that we're still considered a small city.

You just never know how these things will turn out. Best of luck with this. :rose:

Re: Sassy: July 2006 - 41 & BB Bound

Took a couple days off, regrouped, got my sleeping back to normal (I think..). Change in the diet for 2 weeks - I think its been painfully obvious that my sleep patterns have impacted my diet, probably not eating enough. Cardio has suffered and all in all, time to reset. For two weeks, food goes way up, training should reflect some nice lift increases (I hope) and just made a promise to myself to be diligent w/ my visits to the massage therapist and focus on keeping my back working. Cardio -- going to take a drive down the road today & see if I can locate the stadium field that seems to be located behind my house - I see stadium lights at night & it sounds like a bunch of kids playing so there's gotta be some muthalovin track / bleacher setups there for sprints.

And in an hour, off to this career placement place for the next evaluation meeting, see if I want to hire them for mucho dineiro to get serious about my job search & relocation.

Well its good to have ya back :) Hopefully you were able to get allllllllll caught up on that much needed rest too! Good luck with the job searchin!

Re: Sassy: July 2006 - 41 & BB Bound

Ahhh, new goals - new frame of mind!

Hope the 2nd meeting goes well. Good luck! :rose:

Re: Sassy: July 2006 - 41 & BB Bound

Quick update -

- hired the career placement firm - start working w/ them on Thurs. They gave me the 1 yr price instead of the 3 yr price which nicely puts it back into my budget. Very excited to dive in full steam w/ this.

- found where all the stadium lights are behind the woods from my house - very nice Christian middle school / academy w/ a beautiful football field & track to do sprints on. They even have an "athletic center' - like a real building devoted to indoor sports & admin for the various sports programs they have. Nicer than my first university as a matter of fact. I even talked to their nice athletic director to get the scoop on the local residents using the field. Very nice people! So AM SPRINTS BABY!

- Picked up about $200 worth of protein from Costco today so I'm set for ... awhile anyway. I sat in traffic for at least an hour coming home no thanks to a Greyhound bus that apparently ignited and some doofus driving a truck loaded down w/ hay that managed to spill all over I-285 during rush hr and he's out in the middle of it trying to pick it up by hand. Wonderful.

- And I'm collectively in a rant mood tonite.

Tomorrow --- new diet, new cardio / interval, training shoudl reflect the increase in cals for the next 2 weeks.

Re: Sassy: July 2006 - 41 & BB Bound

LMAO -- well AM sprints turned into AM Sitting & waiting for the rain to stop....

Looks like its going to be balls to the wall training instead. Diet went well tho. Currently engaged in the tedious process of re-entering my resume into the career company's online database thingy. God. One drawback to being in the business world for 20 years, esp thru the tech boom & bust, is all the damn job descriptions I have to enter. One of the funniest parts of the skills & career assessment is to enter two major life achievements, and the first one has to be prior to age 12. No idea why, but I was sort of like... um I vaguely remember Watergate... that's about it.....

Re: Sassy: July 2006 - 41 & BB Bound

Well thats great news that you were able to find the stadium, but kinda sucks that the rain delayed your workouts :( I had the same issue today so I just winded up at spin class myself and oh what a whoop it was :)

No falling over!!!! I get to start posing on monday next week.. Then I will be practicing pretty much every day!

Re: Sassy: July 2006 - 41 & BB Bound

ANd YES... sprints did happen this morning....

7 am - Stim X popped
7:45 am - sweating , get out of bed.
- had to eat 1/4 grapefruit due to pending starvation -
8:30 am - pull up to the track
- this is a regulation 400 m track around a regulation football field
Warm up: 400 m jog
sprints: 100 m + 300 m jog x 6 (goal.. get to 10) - mixed in a few 100 m of calf walk to help stretch out shins / deal w/ the calf pump
jog: 400 m x 2 backwards
high step sprints: 100 m + 300 m jog x 4
jog: 400 m x 4
stairs: 33 steps up + down x 10

General observations:
- obviously my endurance needs work
- will pay attention to calf stretches & watch for any shin splint issues - its a really nice rubber-based track so really don't anticipate issues
- my bunions hurt after all the on-the-toes work.... dammit
- backwards running is great for glutes / hams
- my left hamstring / psoas is constantly tight despite 20 min of stretching last nite -- i guess more time at the massage therapist to get that worked out.

... its a start :)

Re: Sassy: July 2006 - 41 & BB Bound

Congrats on the great workout!!!! Now that sounds like fun ... yeaaaaaaaaaaa for sprints!!! :)

:) Nothing like a self-ass kicking...

Something magical about passing that 12 week out point. No more room for fucking around....

I really wish my feet didnt' hurt so much from the cardio / sprint stuff. O well. Age sucks.

But where pain exists, motivation & drive take over!

Thx :) StimX -- ran it a few weeks ago - but it would put me past the body buzz & straight to a pissed off mood -- could've been related to my very screwed up sleeping patterns. Seemed Ok yesterday. I'm staying away from stims other than CB at nite just to make sure i dont hose up my sleeping patterns again....

Yes, ladies - Sassy & IP - I starting sprinting last night. TOUGH STUFF! I don't think I could do it in the AM on an empty stomach though. There would be pass-out potential! @ what time during your day do you girls normally fit in a workout that includes sprints?

Re: Sassy: July 2006 - 41 & BB Bound

Sprints - am -- the track is abotu 5 min from my house. Otherwise AM cardio in my basement (got a Precor) or the gym.

Train at nite.

I've kept that schedule thru all of last yr for competition training. Right now a bit diff because I'm job hunting right now. But if its gonna be am, its gotta be done or else eating messes it up.

Sass,

You and me both: have a Life' Eliptical and a precor treadmill in the basement: if i dont get outside to pedal, am sprints gotta get done or i blow them off. Cant seem to get myself in tune with HIIT in the afternoon evening... hmph...

Re: Sassy: July 2006 - 41 & BB Bound

How do you keep your appetite in check?
I tend to get really hungry after I've had a shake for a meal. Usually those are Pre or Post workout.

Re: Sassy: July 2006 - 41 & BB Bound

Right now my appetite kicks in right about the time of the next meal. At the moment, cals are up a bit, but anticipating a dramatic cut because I have to really lean out this time around.. At that point if it becomes an issue, I will fall back on VPX Dietex for appetite control. This stuff worked fantastically last yr.

Based on the point I start getting hungry again and the points where I start to feel dried out, I'm feeling like everythign is kicking in nicely. Setting up the burn rate baby!

Ghede - my sprints are still a bit sporadic -- I wasn't able to evade the shin splints from the stuff the other day so I suspect I'll need at least 3 days between to survive it. Getting in at least 1 cardio session / day. Based on the degree of pain in my left hamstring I'll be incorporating at least 1 yoga class / week , hopefully a couple butts & guts classes (if I can get up early enough), and a regular deep tissue massage.

Re: Sassy: July 2006 - 41 & BB Bound

30 April 2006 (Sun) -- low day!

11 am - 1 hr deep tissue massage + adjustment -- right lat was completely hosed so got that fixed.

1:30 pm - 1 hr yoga
20 min posing - got my lat spread "verified" - hard to see your own back so I had one of the local BBs check it for me. Checks out!

Re: Sassy: July 2006 - 41 & BB Bound

LOL --- ok, here's what I think happened - I have a rotator cuff problem on my right side and I've jacked up my weights this week but forgot to do my rotator cuff warm-ups prior to starting my shoulder / delt giant sets. So I think just in general my whole right lat was engaged trying to compensate for the sore rotator on that side. Therefore it just got overtrained & generally aggravated. So the massage therapist pounded on it for an hr to break up all the knots and sort of push things back into place. Then the chiro did an adjustment to get everything realigned.

The lat spread -- meaning the mandatory BB pose - front / rear lat spread -- looking at my pix from my show last yr, my lat spread sucked. It's not a pose I'm comfortable doing because it is just an awkward pose. I've started my posing practice and also want to really leverage the conditioning aspect of it so I want to get all of it correct now so I can really get comfortable doing it in a mandatory round or as part of a posign routine. I think if you rush it, its easy to have it turn out stupid looking, so I can't afford to do that.

Anyway, I had one of the former competitors at my gym check my execution of the pose & he said it was good. Since I can't see how it looks unless I videotape myself, I needed some expert feedback :)

no usps conf.

Goofball. ;)

Anyway, I had one of the former competitors at my gym check my execution of the pose & he said it was good. Since I can't see how it looks unless I videotape myself, I needed some expert feedback :)

no usps conf.

Goofball. ;)
Sounds like fun... I have a girl I'm working with now her rotator is always screwed up after she does her shoulder day. It was getting so bad the pain was radiating down the front of her arm. I found the same thing with the lat being overly used. As soon as I got my fingers in it, she was about off the table. A nice golf ball size knot in there.
I start my posing this week. Fun stuff!!!

Re: Sassy: July 2006 - 41 & BB Bound

I'm loving posing -- really happy my lat spread looks right and the rest of it is 2nd nature after last yr. Still working thru some songs to arrive at my posing music & a routine, but no rush there. Now the focus is 1) fat loss (read: cardio & diet) and 2) keeping all the aches & pains in check.

Not even remotely. There's an amazing mindset that happens at 12 weeks out...

Hey you!!! Throw some of that mindset over here!! :mix:

I have four weeks til I sail away to the beach and I need to re-focus. Hm, maybe one of those massages you mentioned below would help..... hehe.

Re: Sassy: July 2006 - 41 & BB Bound

Hmmm... 4 weeks -- how bad do you want it? Just turn off the comfortable thought of Eh I dont feel like doing cardio -- and just go do it. :)

But how the hell do you turn off that thought at 5 AM? It is hard sometimes, but I want. I want it BAD! So bad, that I'm going to throw out the last of the almond butter and just get on with it.... :verygood:

Re: Sassy: July 2006 - 41 & BB Bound

Um ... well teh whole 5 am thing -- I wanted to take this butts & guts class and its at 5:30. Set the alarm for 4:45 so I could see if I needed to eat, but I woke up at 4:30. I dunno - I'm inside 12 weeks - for competition that's when you either get serious or don't bother. Also I'm diving head first into a big career move and more of the work for this starts this week - so its like my weeks of fuckign around are over & time to get busy. I want to be hired & moved in 4 months...

Re: Sassy: July 2006 - 41 & BB Bound

FOr the record, I really want to go back to bed now. One drawback to an early & energetic morning...

STFU & TRAIN!

So often the hardest part is just getting to the gym. Once I'm there its usually hard to get me to go home.

4 May 2006 (Thurs)

Diet:

5 am: Capri Sun sippy thingy (16 g carb) -- starving before AM butts & guts
6 am: Capri Sun sippy thingy (16 g carb) -- getting stupid after AM butts & guts and before am cardio

Meal 1: 8 am
2 whole eggs + 6 egg whites --- so carb depleted decided could cook eggs faster than I could get the chicken out
1/2 grapefruit

Meal 2: 11:30 am
2 scoops BI MP + 1 tbsp ANPB

Meal 3: 3 pm
5 oz chicken
4 oZ sweet potato
1 c green beans

Meal 4: 6 pm
2 scoops BI MP + 1 tbsp ANPB

Meal 5: 10 pm
5 oz top round
1 c green beans

Training:
AM:
- 30 min Butts & Guts class
- 20 min Step Mill (fat burning profile) + 30 min Lifefitness elliptical
- 10 min posing

PM: took a day off

Today was sort of a bummer - I took a nap after getting back from the gym this morning because I was just flaky & incoherent. Met up w/ a friend who is also hating ATL and job hunting and sort of lost my drive in general.

I guess its one thing when you lose your drive to hit the gym, but when you sort of lose your purpose in general, it really sux. This is why I'm really making a big drive to get to a new & completely better place in life, but goddam, the steps to gettign there are so life-sucking sometimes.

BTW - its so NICE to see the motivation, support & general love here on the boards between BUNNY's quotes and great attitude, nelms' bday and all the fantastic stuff!

With everything you have going on you've more than earned a bummer day. We all have them & sometimes they suck more than other times.

Making the decision to get a better place in life is often the hardest step & you've already done that. :rainbow:

The Motivation, support & general love on the boards is what sets this sight above the countless others, it's also why I'm actually making progress. You're dedication to yourself & others is part of that too.

:bigkiss: I got nuttin but wuv for ya Sassy!

Re: Sassy: July 2006 - 41 & BB Bound

LOL The ANPB is a non-issue to me. I have pretty much no appetite except when I start carb-crashing & getting stupid in the brain.

Thx girls! That's so nice. This job thing is overwhelming sometimes. No I don't like ATL - it hasn't been a positive experience for me, though I do know some good people here. Employment-wise, its not been what I'd call a move up the corporate ladder. Thus the big move.

But all whining aside, sometimes it just gets a little much, or maybe a little too quiet.

However, I did hit the gym and I did remember that the gym closes at 8 pm on Fridays.

5 May 2006 (no Cinco di Mayo celebration in the Sassy house, as we are not looking for a reason to drink, nor are we Mexican....)

:FRlol: TO add my my collection of shirts I will create one day, i.e "Got Lats" & "Ya, you skinny girl... EAT SOMETHING"

I will not add "Got Oxy?" ...
Honey drizzling?!

G-Love ... Nice vivid & Sticky picture!

I guess I will allow being life's 2nd most fortunate... :rose:

SASSY ... Nice job on getting in the PM workout :) How's the stomach ache?

Love them Sissy's ... been a while for those (for me) ...

Re: Sassy: July 2006 - 41 & BB Bound

"Got lats" --- love it!

Recall "Godzilla vs. Bambi"? ....Quadzilla vs Hambi .... uh... ok anyway...

My day started out w/ a BOSU class getting traded in for watching Noah's Ark go floating by during the downpour.... Massage scheduleld in 37 minutes - new guy -- sports-background.... this should be good. My right lat / shoulder is still screwy - probably a small tear in the rotator. FUG. And then when that's been fixed, return for chest / shoulder workout & cardio.

Again w/ the stomach ache today. What a pain. But generally seeing a nice big fat drop in bodyfat right now. Not seeing the scale move much yet, but then that's how my body likes to mess w/ my mind. Depending on stomach, should get some pix up tonite or tomorrow, as we enter roughly 9 weeks out....
