Salmon is Great. It depends on the grade etc... If it's good and you enjoy it, $9.00 bucks a pound sounds reasonable. I love Salmon and the prices do vary. I also Love Chilean Sea Bass. That goes for about $20.00 a pound. When we talk about seafood, I also Love Octopus.

msg is for swat doc, if your wondering if its a hatchery salmon or wild look for the dorsol fin, theres the main big one on back then close to the fin at end there should be a little one maybe a inch long. if its there its wild, hatchery salmon have them removed. hope that helps

I can get 100lbs at a time so i can get it for like 5 bucks a lb.then just bring some home

I pay $18/pound for wild Atlantic salmon (i.e., not farm raised, less risk of PCB's, mercury, etc.). This is probably unnecessary if you don't eat salmon that much, but I eat it two-three times per week.

I've always wondered, is the guy really selling me wild salmon, or is he just marking up the price of farm raised salmon and claiming it's wild salmon?

you can always ask to see the documentation/receipts
if it is wild he will proudly and gladly show you

if not buy it elsewhere
but there is a coloration difference
pac and atl salmons are different species of fish
pac salmon is a deeper orangish-red and much larger if king
sockeye pac salmon is the same size as atl
atl is a pale orange to med orange

also if you do get atl get farmraised canadian
the chilean and european farmed salmon is the ones you have to worry about with pcb's
american farmed is not bad either

Sams club or Costco....... way less then $9\lb
You need to by a whole side fliet but cut it up into 6 or 8 oz portions wrap it up real good and freeze what you not going to use with in 4 day of purchase

$6.99 at grocery stores on sale alot, i just buy 7lbs at a time, i also buy the walmart version of canned salmon wich is cheaper that bumble bee and it also has the bones in it still, more protein ect.... $1.98 can for 14.75 oz, i eat 1/2 can a night for my 8:00 pm meal w/ ff cottage cheese.

Do not be fooled by the color. I was in grocery not long ago and saw some "salmon" from Chili...It had red food dye in the list of ingreds. Oh yeah, just what the hell I want. So, yes, YOU really have to ask questions and READ where the product is from.

I shop at my local fish market for all my fish purchases. You can't go wrong when you KNOW what you're buying and NO cover-ups can be done to a whole fish providing you know what you're looking at and smelling!

Everybody sing with me:"Fish heads, fish heads"..lol I have the fish monger filet 'em for me. I'd not be able to eat 'em otherwise.
