RRROLL UP The Rim To Win

redguru said:
Will that allow us to grow more corn to offset the bio-fuel craze that is going to affect world-wide food prices this coming year?

I would think, but I'm not all that familiar with the biofuel stuff. Is this stuff actually plausable, or is it just another media propagated hopeful?

Well, it works in most Diesel applications but at the price of increasing the cost of corn used for food products. People are using corn oil for bi-fuel and ethanol made from corn for E85. Corn is the staple food for most third and second world countries, and this kick may price these people right out of a meal.

I've heard about this E85 stuff. I've never seen a gas station around here carry it, though. Is it common in bigger cities or down by you at all?

Looks like hydrogen wasn't the holy grail of energy after all... at least not yet.

i don't see a single station that carries it, however, my company car has the little E85 logo on it. Funny that it is much less efficient on E85, 110 miles less on a tankful according to the manual.

corn is the highest cost product to use for biofuel, upwards of $300.00/ ac to grow here in Tx. Many other sources yeild a higher amount of useable fuel for the dollar, switchgrass is one if the best, a weed. Corn just gets all the press....

Is this the Canadian version of that McDonalds Monopoly game?

haha no not really, it's like you roll up the rim on the coffee cup and you win something, almost like a scratch and win, you don't really like collect pieces or anything.

Tim Hortons is a pretty huge franchine and only getting bigger really, there will be plenty of Tim Hortons in the states in the next while, thier coffee is awesome, and it doesn't cost 5 bucks!

fucking whorey starbucks.

im pretty fucking stoked about this, today I will get my first rollie as I like to call them.

ps why the hell were people talking about ethanol ? is it because canada is building more kick ass ethanol plants or what? ya its going to drive costs up in alot of stuff, my dogs food has went up 20 bucks a bag and we buy the shit at cost, and eventually it will drive beef prices up so now everyone will buy american beef (yak) but it is better for the environment, or atleast thats the arguement my wifes uncle makes and he is on the ethanol board for ontario

Um, no. Actually, it has an equal or greater carbon cost than straight hydrocarbons - they don't factor in the cost in carbon to grow the stuff, fertilize it (fuel for tractor, oil based fertilizer, etc.). Tangent: I'm not sure that burning hydrocarbons is a problem - after all, all that carbon under the soil was at one time in the atmosphere and we didn't go up in a big ball of flame THEN.
