^^^ true, I went to see my doc about blood tests and after explaining why & what for etc she admitted I knew more about it than she did... And I only know what I've learnt here.

in the USA its way worse man. WAY WORSE. I don't even have insurance, so if i go to the ER i have to pay thousands just walking in the door. atleast you guys are insured.. docs in the US are greedy, its all about making money, zero patient relationship unless you know the doc personally.

Tell me about it! The US is the ONLY 1st world country I know of that doesn't have a national health service. It makes no sense to me, it's the same as needing police insurance in case you become the victim of a crime...
I've argued with ALL my American friends about this. They all seem to think it'd be the worst thing in the world but what they don't get is private health insurance in the UK is cheaper than in the US because these private companies have to compete with a free service (ok not free, we all pay for it with our taxes)
The only down side to national health is that when you don't have to stump up cash for a visit everyone goes to the doctor's with the slightest little snivel.

And what baffles me is a lot of americans are happy about this. . . .
^^^ nah its that Americans are selfish. if THEY have insurance and their kids are covered its fine. but everyone else fuck em.
i'm self employed so i have zero access to decent health insurance and I don't qualify for medicaid or medicare so i get punished. any decent coverage will cost me 600 a month. i can buy shit coverage for 100 a month but my deductible is like 10K so its useless.
and then you've got GP's who don't know shit making 300K per year living in 10 bedroom houses. thats the problem.. the last time i went to a GP she weighed about 300 pounds and didn't know shit.
hence I don't go to western docs.. i only go to holistic docs who don't charge me 1000 bucks for an office visit and i go to the chiropractor on occasion. and i stock up on prescription drugs off online pharmacies.. i've got a drawer of tamiflu and anti-biotics just in case.. thats it. i guess if something major happens to me i will just die or get treated and not pay and screw up my credit

Uncle Sam has a scat/golden shower fetish and likes to gather up small business owners and take a huge steaming shit on their face. Then he likes to have you say ahhh and piss right down your throat to wash it down.
Theres a fine line with a small (sub 200-250k) business. You have to claim just enough to be able to impress an asshole bank into giving you a mortgage to buy a decent house and car but then you dont qualify for any decent insurance without getting raped.
Or if you claim too little then yes your entitled to good(i guess) insurance and you look broke in any creditors eyes and cant buy a decent house or vehicle.
Switching from our current system to a gov't managed health care system would put docs on fixed salaries ect ect... and believe me... they would start giving less of a shit than they already do. You think with the way US docs are that if all of a sudden some specialist is getting paid $750,000 yr to diagnose and treat cancer patience starts getting a regulated system and salary ect....that hes going to give as much of a shit as he did before? No way. 99.9% wont.
I had to go to PT a long time ago when I was uninsured and the dude was like i dont care, i wanna see you get better...Just pay me $10 cash a visit. Now thats someone dedicated to helping people.
