Re: Treils 2006 Competition Log

SEP 26 2006
Mood = Good
Soreness = Ham and glute soreness, pants that fit this weekend could hardly get up over the bootayyyy I liked this change of pace work-out, thaks S

Food = Same lay-out as yesterday...
You know PB tastes so much better when you CAN taste it... Well all food does

Notes:
Gym
- Need to take new pics.. not necessarily posting them in here.. because I don't need
to right now.
- Need to do measurements
- NO2 seems to be working well. Tried full scoop yesterday and really got the pump
affect. I  NO2

Life
- Volunteering at the Sally Ride festival this weekend... Going to get to show my nerdiness with Kaleidoscopes, prisms, and optics.
- Taking an Instructor position at the massage school
- No more Training, well not getting paid for it at this time
- Retake NSCA test Dec 2
- Hot/Cold stone massage cert Oct
- Have Massage State cert by the spring
- Possibly officially get biz license and open up out of the house by Spring, depending on life

*Mom is doing lots better, I forgot to say thanks Flor for asking. She looks like she has lost more weight to me. She is a size 14 now, was a size 20 April 2004. It has taken awhile to get weight off as she has a lot of health issues so slow and steady has been the goal. It's been a great learning experinece for me in both training and massage therapy. What works.. what she can handle.. What massage ellicits a healing response, and what massage would be detrimental per her health issues. Many people don't realize that massage can be contraindicated for some people and actually have adverse sides if not practiced correctly.

Re: Treils 2006 Competition Log

Nice job T - glad the booty is doing well.

Congrats on your Moms......I know how much that means to you.

Hang in there - it seems your busy season is upon you...much like mine is these days. Stay focused and remember that life isnt all about work - although is seems like it at times

Re: Treils 2006 Competition Log

I am happy your mom is doing better

I didn't know that about massage, learn something new everyday!

Sally Ride, was that the first female astronaut?
Glad you're feeling better.
All these certificates for your, um, certification. Do you need to requalify periodically, or just once?
If you hang out a shingle, I'll stop by for a massage, if ever I'm in the area. Umm, what region are you in?

Yep first American Women in Space
I have to requalify for most of those yearly... The only one will be the state massage cert which will be a one time test as long as I practice for 5 consecutive years'. I live by Detroit.. I can't hang a sign out on my door.. against the community rules... but I can still have a legal biz as long as it has closing hours, only 2 cars in the driveway at once, and you can't see any type of business going on from the street. So I am golden.

Re: Treils 2006 Competition Log

Yeah that is high I even think for a gym!!! Maybe a spa would charge that...

They say Deep tissue what does that entail?

Also... just for anyone out there reading this... Just because someone works as a massage therapist does not mean they went through school or are certified. My state imparticular does not require state licensure to practice massage. So check credentials or else you could be paying someone money who has never been through any formal training. I don't know about you... but the only one touching me not trained in massage would be a guy I'm dating.

Average massages very in price. Some places will offer package discounts. If you have an injury it's best to get the package deal. If you want a relaxation best to just probably by the one time visit. Some places also will allow your insurance to cover the massage. Just because this is another cheap route does not mean the massage quality will be good. Most therapists who are good will not bother with insurance companies because of the wait period to get paid.

Typical pricing for an hour:
$50-$60 for relaxation/swedish
$65 Foot reflexology types
$70-$100 for deep/Neuro-muscular/or other specific work
$75-$95 for stone

You may find cheaper rates with someone who practices out of their house because you don't have to pay the overhead cost of what the company they work for will charge. Also, depends on the years' of experience of the therapist per what they charge. The director of our school charges $100 an hour, but she is worth every dollar!

To find a qualified therapist in your area look at the AMTA (American Massage Therapy Association) website. Only qualified individuals with reputable names will be a memeber of this.

I'm very excited for you to start your own massage practice. Next time I visit, I'm definitely getting a Tre signature massage :D I may not have Nelms to drive me to your house, but then again, I probably have a better chance of getting there in one piece now too :lmao:

Glad to hear your mom is doing better as well! :rose:

:) As far as the next day some people feel sore, energized, or tired. From one session to the next you may experience different sensations... Each session is unique and independent from the last. So tired there is nothing worng with tired. Maybe you hold a lot of tension, and after he releases the tense muscles you finally get a sense of relief and then exhaustion sets in because you let all that go... Sounds like you have a winner :)

Thanks Jens :)

Prolly in the new year, I'll be heading that way to Florida with the Mrs. . We'll stop in for a coffee/tea & massage.

'Morning CK, and Ilk!!!!

Soreness is setting here.. posterior shoulders are screaming... I have finally conquered the mind muscle connection on those!!

Re: Treils 2006 Competition Log

How does it go again? Just a post to say that I'm posting in you're log :lmao: POST! think i got it right anyway lol

Re: Treils 2006 Competition Log

SEP 28 2006

Mood = Good
Soreness = Hams mid-lower, medially. Some post shoulder

I did HIIT training the first time yesterday since like August 16 and oh my word.. I can't even do 1/2 of what I did.. I can tell my cardio level was a lot better after all that cardio pre-comp, but it sure goes away fast when you stop doing it.

I did the step mill 5 min WU, 1 min intervals (1min high, 1min working recovery) for 8 cycles, and 4 min cool down
Noone was in the old gym except for everyone who wanted a treadmill... they were all taken.

Sweat every where

Food.... same

Weights this evening will be quads and calves  They are sooo dead

Notes:
Pictures finally taken last night, measurements done. No I am not posting them either so don't bother asking. I am not ready to be posting tubby pictures yet. I did notice muscle gains though in the quads since May. I have back up.. just ask SBT. For fun I compared my initial shots Jan 2005, and my shots from yesterday and there is a huge difference in the legs.
As far as extra muscle since May I can't tell on most other parts of the body because of the fat layer  Lats look a little bigger, but they are discreetly hidden. Playing with body fat calipers tonight or this weekend.. I can kind of look at and say comparing pictures, and body weight with May and say roughly 25-27%.
Hopefully some of that will drop with the clean bulk, but again the main focus is on muscle gain not fat loss.

Re: Treils 2006 Competition Log

I'll just go ahead and jump in now so peep don't gotta ask :) definately got some muscle gains goin on its obvious in pictures and just from what I've seen in person too! And IMO after a winter of continuin to hit the weights hard will look amazing next spring/summer

Re: Treils 2006 Competition Log

hey tre!! i hear ya on the HIIT....when i was on my bulk i def slacked on the cardio....i just tried some HIIT yesterday and oh man....sucked ass!!! my legs were screaming on the elliptical....

Yeah I was trying but the legs were so dang heavy that they did not want to go!!! I'll get there... I'm in no rush.

HiDnGoD = I was slacking the past 5-6 weeks on cardio and this is now where I stand... Easily doing 3 days of hiit and 1 longer session a week. Boy how fast it can get away!

jpt = Don't let it suck your @ss, No need for that...

I was gonna say what kind of alien did you create, lmao...
Yeah I call it stages. I know a few people in
stage 1, the start of the sore throat.
stage 2 is a sore throat, can't swallow, appetite dissipation.
stage 3 is the chest, coughing, and sore throat, ears starting to close off.
stage 4 sore throat goes away, but now it feels like an asthma attack when you cough, and the ears still hurt, lymph nodes still swelled, appetite still gone.
stage 5 is the nose added in!!
stage 6 swelling goes away, cough and chest issue still present, but now there is lovely junk running down the troat, and the nose turns into a faucet, taste of food goes away.
stage 7: (Where I am at) nose still plugged (what's more annoying is when you can smell out half of your nose, and the other half is stuffed), and a slight cough.
stage 8 = To be determined... but I hope to God it's soon!

So yes I know the morphological stages ;)

Re: Treils 2006 Competition Log

I hate in stage 7 when you can't breath out of the one and then it starts running

sounds like it is near the end I hope

Re: Treils 2006 Competition Log

I think I'll be getting sick. I'm playing in a ball tournament tomorrow & there's an 80% chance of rain, & it's only s'posed to be 10 deg(that's about 50deg for y'all southerners, LOL).

Re: Treils 2006 Competition Log

October 2 2006

I love October
Mood= woke up crusty, but turning it around
Soreness = all over
Weight = 155.4 (Whowho new record for this bulk)

Food = Same, same (Still on this clean bulk, but think I'm retaining some water)

Weights this evening are hams, glutes, and abs

Notes=
1)Tried Bikram yoga for the first time. Always did Hatha yoga in the past. This is where they heat the room up and it's more focused on strength, and sweating. I did not realize this until I walked in the room and was like dang it's really hot in here and then it clicked... not Hatha. Needless to say I think I did enough crocodiles (really low pushup hold thingey) and I did arms and chest on friday, and shoulders saturday. Yeah...SORE.
Today my back is really sore and tight.
I also moved books, bookcase, and computer (office) from upstairs to the basement.. so two work-outs and not enough carbs.. well food in general was lower yesterday...

2) Played with body fat calipers yesterday. I think SBT and I are pretty good at doing it... Well I think her pinch is like ohhhh 10% high on me... it reads 25% (I hope u catch the sarcasm). I felt her holding onto a little water, and even when I was pinching myself I noticed a lot of water... so hopefully that made our pinches higher.

3)Ohhh Flor!!! that site is not exactly what we need. I am looking for the exact math calculation to figure out a 5 point pinch test. You would think a Personal training book would have it, but out of 3 books we have here none of them have it. Well one had a 3 point site test and then you look at this chart but I don't think it is accurate, and 5 point is still more accurate then 3. So I'm still looking!!! The calipers I would like to get are $200 and some change... I really don't like the digital ones for me because they are not accurate. I notice the more water I hold the more inaccurate they become, like a 8% difference. They are really good for someone just trying to monitor body fat loss/gain and can take pretty similar pinches, but for me.. I want more accuracy :)

4)The first time EVER I will say this... I could not eat all the PB I was supposed to eat last night (3T) I must be sick!!! Still have this cold too... Errr

Re: Treils 2006 Competition Log

hey tre...how many cals you trying for daily on your bulk?

i'm sure you know alot of the tricks to getting in the clean cals but i'll mention anyway. in my shakes i would throw in a cup of oats, anpb, and milk. so my shake went from 240 cals to about 700 cals.

Re: Treils 2006 Competition Log

:wavey: Tre! I did the BodyGem test today. Do you remember what your RMR was when you did it? Did they tell you to add another ~10% for the thermic effect of food digestion? Mine was a tad on the low side. My RMR was 1280 cals and I was told I can account another 10% for food digestion so that would bring it to 1400 cals. Of course, then I would take my activity factor into account. But I guess I don't really have to worry that I'm eating too little at this point

U did it first thing in the a.m. right no food, or drink in you... out of bed..?

My RMR was like 1850 last year about this time.
Your low RMR is probably due to the fact of your cals being so low for such a long time... Your body kind of adjusted to what you were feeding it, and so that's the exact reason why some people's metabolism's drop... Not eating enough... Not eating enough to gain muscle. The only way to get it up is to increase cals.. I'm not saying jump cals but increase them like maybe by 100 cals a week till you get to where you need to be for muscle gains. I think that's what you are striving for right?!

I never really took into account the thermic effect of food with my clients'. I used the number out as their RMR, and adjusted their diet around that and it seemed to work really well.

Hello.... I'm shooting at 1800 40/30/30

As far as the shake advice hmmm.... You talking a pre- work-out shake?
I wouldn't be throwing PB or milk in a post work-out shake because it will slow down the assimilation process of the protein and that's when you want uptake to be fast.
Don't have to worry to much about my shakes... justa bout getting regular food in my system... I love my shakes

Thanks, Tre! Yup, I did it first thing in the morning with nothing in my stomach. I'm not going to change anything with my diet at this point. I ate at 10-12 x my bodyweight on my own and then when I signed up with the Savage program, they gave me a similar calorie range. I'm happy with it and am continuing to make progress with looking more cut while staying lean. For me, this was more of a clarification that I wasn't eating too little. I had expected the number to come out at 1350 or so, so it was a tad lower than what I thought. Again, I've gone on all-out cheat weekends (like at your show & my other weekend trips) and not gained anything, so indulging once in a while doesn't really seem to do too much damage despite a low RMR.

I'm going back later this week to get a BodPod test done (the machine was broken today) for bodyfat %. So it'll be good to have that number on hand as well.

Re: Treils 2006 Competition Log

i eat whole food pre workout.....when cutting i keep it to just 1 can of tuna. i love my food so i take my carbs in at lunch and pwo. energy usually isn't a prob for me when i'm there....

when i bulk i have the milk, oats, and anpb when i wake up along with my shake. pwo i use oats and a banana....i also dabble olive oil when cooking my chicken

Re: Treils 2006 Competition Log

Hey Treil! Yup they're doing RMR's at my gym too these days, no bod pods though. They use to do hydrostatic weighing but got rid of it... bastages!

Hope you are feeling better, mental & physical.

Still have your cold? That's amazing. Have you tried cold FX? I don't think it'll do any good this time, but next time as soon as you feel symptoms, you take it. Shortens duration & minimizes symptoms.

Hey my friends'
Mood = Good, nose still stuffy

Soreness = all over, better today though. Obliques, abs, hams, back (mid), and neck are sore. Chest is finally stretching, arms are not hurting today. Gotta love that yoga... So... going to be doing that more to keep up the flexibility and minimize injury.

Weight = 153.6 (Jens why are you worried about 145 it's a number and I thought
you were bulking girl??!?!?!?)

Food = Same, same... 1800 40/30/30...

Notes:

Still have your cold? That's amazing. Have you tried cold FX? I don't think it'll do any good this time, but next time as soon as you feel symptoms, you take it. Shortens duration & minimizes symptoms.
Note to self, thanks dr.dad :) Hopefully it's no time soon I have to try this out. Still have the nose and slight headache.

Hey Treil! Yup they're doing RMR's at my gym too these days, no bod pods though. They use to do hydrostatic weighing but got rid of it... bastages!

Hope you are feeling better, mental & physical.

HEy girl :wavey: I never did the pod thing, I would love to do it but couldn't get in to get it done. They have one at U oF M, but you have to kind of work your way in through contacts... Maybe one day.

Thanks, I hope you are feeling better too. How is the accupuncture coming along?!?!

HEY WW :wavey:

i eat whole food pre workout.....when cutting i keep it to just 1 can of tuna. i love my food so i take my carbs in at lunch and pwo. energy usually isn't a prob for me when i'm there....

when i bulk i have the milk, oats, and anpb when i wake up along with my shake. pwo i use oats and a banana....i also dabble olive oil when cooking my chicken

Got it!!! Yeah I try and not mix my fats and carbs... First rule of law I learned from the Shadow plan... SBT and I need to get cracking and writing down our recipes.. we make some great stuff up... always forget to write it down. Going to get a recipe book together and published :)

Got it! Please come back and share with me your pod experience... all the details :)

You need the deep tissue.. Stone is more for relaxation... Unless they are using reciprocal therapy with hot and cold stone... Again though more for relaxation purposes or people with Myofibralgia.
Go DEEP :)

How is the stone therapy good for people with Fibro? I have a friend with a bad case of it.
I heard a coupla young girls talking the other day. One was examining her face in a window & said to the other, "I can't wait to get a little older, so I stop breking out!" I didn't enlighten her. :lmao:

Good mornin!
O.k. so hot and cold stone is a better type of massage because most clients with Fibro cannot stand hardly any pressure on their muscles because it inflicts pain. Some client's actually come in for regular massage for the hour or so of non-pain they obtain afterwards. For the most part though the next day they are in some more pain because of the condition. Hot and cold stone is very superficial so you can help relax the muscles without prying into them. The idea of the cold stone and hot stone is a technique to fool the neuromuscular system. Depending on placement of the stones, ie. a hot stone near the CNS or by the spine near the nerve root to where the muscle you want to work, and a cold stone maybe farther down on the muscle to be worked to take out inflammation. I mean if I were to lay a cold stone on someone they might jump off the table.. with the hot stone at the nerve root it doesn't feel as shocking. I haven't actually been through the course and am not certified in that area, but I plan on it one day.

HIIT yesterday was wow... I was only into 2.5 minutes of my warm up when I was asking myself, "What are you doing?" So still completed the 5min WU, 20 min intervals, 5 min tread walk down. Wow how cardio out of shape it made me feel.

October 6 2006
Mood = Awesome (It's friday)
Soreness = Quads feel tired, knees kinda sore, Still knot in my gastroc. Which they also feel tired.
Weight = 152.4

Food = oatmeal switched out for shredded wheat today, and added a cup of green beans to lunch.
Decided maybe next week to start adding some red meat in.

Weights = Leg day yesterday was GREAT!!! Tore them up. Tonight is Chest and arms.

Notes:
-Yesterday was a health fair here at work and they had one of those hand held electronic things. Same one I used to play with when I was dieting down just to see what it would tell me. Well I was suprised it read 22%. Lower then I was thinking. Then when I used to use it back in the day when I was at 14% it would read me out as 17%. So if that is still holding true.... who knows.. I know a lot of things factor in like water but I would be happy knowing my BF is 19-22%. So SBT and I are still working with calipers to calibrate each other on taking the measures accurately and consistently.

-Switched out my NO2 Anavar supp, with Trac. I think I had a great leg day with it. The stuff still is not the best tasting stuff... I think all the flavors they have are trying to mask the bitterness of the N02. So yesterday was fruit punch aspirin taste. The anavar Supp is like chewing on a orange peel.. 10 times stronger then just the peel. I'll monitor this one.

-Face finally clearing up a bit.. not sure what the dealio is...

-3 weeks of a clean diet this sunday, whowhooo

good morning,
Awesome job on the clean dieting. Not that I am an expert but as soon as I started bulking my face broke out like never before, especially my forehead. My trainer told me it was the bread?? As soon as I switched from whole wheat to rye and melba toast it has been clearing up and fast. I also noticed a difference in the texture of my hair??

Re: Treils 2006 Competition Log

regardless of what people think acne is hormonal...you can't get it from eating chocolate or anything like that...it's a myth. as far as protein powders and supps...that's a diff story....but you can't get it from eating sugary foods.

so you likeing the trac huh? better then purecee you think? that trac stuff is expensive...good thing i get mhp products half off yay!!!

October 9 2006
Mood = Good
Soreness = Achey here and there

Didn't really get a day off last week from the gym well working out because I did enough activity on my off day to at least constitue a gym day.

Food = Switched it up a little bit
Today I have shredded wheat instead of oatmeal (new replacement), and a apple cider, sweet potato, chicken meal for lunch. Not the tooth decay apple cider..

Weights hams, glutes, abs :)

Notes...
-Have my new program starting next week wrote up, just need to type it up

-Face is starting to clear up almost clear... I have no idea what that was all about. CK I don't eat bread so ?!

-JPT as far as Trac we will see.... I don't have a vote in yet on it!

-Weight seems to be increasing about a pound a week, clothes still feeling the same, a bit tighter around the legs and butt, but that's good!

-Measurements and all will be done again this next sunday at the end/beginning of a new cycle, and then again every 4 weeks from there.

While I agree with JPt, but foods do affect your homormones so it is all corilated. But if you don't eat bread, I don't know, maybe stress, which sucks.

With those measurements will we be getting pics????

Have a good one!

Pictures... Hmm I'm still getting my diet in order and once I get the BF and measurements in check, I may... In due time ;) I was actually just debating on putting together a bulk cycle picture change. So at the end of this cycle put up a set of image comparisons through my entire bulk before I start cutting in April.
So maybe in another 5 months, lmao...

Are you allergic/sensitive to wheat?

Otherwise Vitamin B5 - Pantothenic Acid is fantastic for clearing up acne.

Maybe... but I didn't start eating the shredded wheat until after I was broke out?!?! I have eaten it the past 2 days and my skin is clearing up. The only other thing I can think of... Was computer processing took a BUNCH of time here at work last week and I think I was holding my head in my hands waiting for stuff to finish... Maybe the bacteria on my hands caused it.. because it's only around my chin area... and the past two days was the weekend and I was not sitting around holding my head waiting on stuff... I went crazy with Pro Activ and a few masks. If it were hormonal it should be messing up now because I start in the next few days.

Ah ok -- intersting only on your chin.

Anyway Vit B5 is still my main secret weapon against zits.

I get some acne on my chin too. I touch my face too much. Also, make sure you wipe off telephones with rubbing alcohol. Bacteria city!
Especially when people are all excited on the telephone and spit on the mouth piece.

Re: Treils 2006 Competition Log

OCTOBER 10 2006
Mood = Great
Soreness = Right now upper back, post shoulders, probably from deads. Hams tight a
little sore, obliques!!!
Weight 153.4, down 2 pounds from yesterday.. Not sure why I was bloated yesterday morning, calories were roughly 1600 on sunday and clean.

Food today eh... Clean but changed a bit

Multi, triflex, saw palmetto, DHEA
M1 1.5C shredded Wheat, 5oz. chicken
M2 almonds 1 ounce
Vitamin C and E, Calcium/Magnesium
M3 4oz. turkey meat, tomatoe, lettuce, pickles, mustard, 1 slice WW bread
M4 Small Apple
M5 4oz. lean steak, mushroom, onion, lettuce
M6 protein (42g), Trac, glutamine, 1 scoop powerade, amino acids
Weights = Back
M7 protein (42g), creatine, glutamine, 1 scoop powerade
M8 2T ANPB

Cals roughly close to 1800 maybe a tad higher, protein probably a bit higher Yes I need to type it into fitday

Notes:
-Yesterday Ham, Glute, and Ab work-out AWESOME! I have it down to 3 things... First I had an extra 25g carbs at lunch, Second I took the Trac an hour before the work-out instead of 30-45 minutes prior, and thirdly but I think doesn't count was cals were 2100 but the excess came from the steak I ate after the work-out... . Either way, all my weights went up ie. deads jumped 40 pounds (4th set 8 reps @ 245) and it was not to hard. All my weights, and even reps went up.... If this keeps up I'll hit my goal on a PR for deads my first strength cycle (315 is the goal), My old PR is 275 from last year. Got home and I still had energy.. I wanted 2 do more! I’ll see how the Trac runs tonight on back day. (JPT)
-Still playing with Calipers... SBT had me at 21% yesterday, 155.4 pounds. I know I have some subcutaneous water in my triceps big time... and I dropped 2 pounds since yesterday. Either way all her pinches on me pretty much dropped since we took them Sep 30th(we are both getting used to taking them she had me at 25%, 150.6 pounds), and the electronic measure last week said 22% on the 5th 152.4 pounds. It appears as though I am gaining roughly 1lb a week in lbm probably a tad more with the dropping in BF.
-Did I say I love only having to do 1 cardio session (HIIT) a week and still dropping body fat?!?!
-Debating on doing some carb cycling next Hypertrophy phase. Possibly calorie increases on leg days starting next week during strength.
-Either way the 1800 cals at a 40/30/30 has yet to fail me in body fat losses and lbm gain every time I go back to it. That is also what I ran on the Shadow plan.
-Almost forgot to add... 7 hours of sleep typically now, and horrible dreams... My dad died in my dream last night and the other half the night I had to massage this chick who was covered in warts and they were poppin off GROSS!!!
-Anyone can add their suggestions, or opinions in here ;)

Thank GOD I have my own phones, and 2 out 3 keyboards I only use!
I used to watch people go to the bathroom not wash their hands and go type on a keyboard, get up and leave. Next person decides to roll up to the board and do their work typing away and stopping to pick up their sandwich.. etc with their hands, or wipe their face, or blow their nose, and my stomach churns...

Re: Treils 2006 Competition Log

O.k. I'll update on my work-out now.. Since it's 10 o'clock and I still could go back 4 more...
Weights all increased again. Funny because I was getting ready to do rows with 90 pounds, 12 reps low tut (last exercise) blah blah blah.. and SBT got this paranoid look on her face like WTF?!?! We only did 60-70 last week... So I did a couple and stopped because the furrowed eyebrows on her face made me think I was doing something wrong... Until I realized I copied over 90 and I was supposed to copy over 70 onto my new sheet. Well needless to say I finished my 4th set at 80 pounds, 12 reps w/ a little aid on a few reps. Most weight went up roughly 5-10 pounds. Last week of Hypertrophy and I want to go all out so I'm doing heavier weights, more focus on eccentric training on the last 2 sets. I didn't feel the full on fledged pump I did yesterday.. but I did train at 7:00 instead of 5:30.. I seem to do better at the 5:30 slot.. 7 I start getting tired. Tomorrow is cardio so I won't be able to give a full report... but THURSDAY.... is Quads and calves!! Death to the legs! Hams are tighter then heck right now. Can't wait to see what's in store in tomorrow's soreness making me much more eager for that HIIT session, sarcasm inserted here.
