yeah, regular is supposed to be nutritionally better, I thought.cindylou said:yeah i like the taste better - but I'm wondering for POST workout?

Mavafanculo said:post workout you want fast digesting high glycemic index simple carbs (dextrose, waxy maize starch), not complex carbs. this applies even when cutting except for the fianl few weeks, because during the post workout 60-90 minute "anabolic window", the carbs will be used to replenish muscle glycogen and not be stored a s fat unless you REALLY overdo it. for a 200lb man, 90 grams dextrose is good.
you also want to add a fast protein like whey to take advantage of this window.

jnevin said:pwo you'd be fine eating a couple of slices of plain white bread. I usually suck down a few honey packets with my shake.
Oh, I get your question now. nevermind what I was saying. I thought you were asking something completely different.cindylou said:oh yeah it is - you are right
im just wondering if post workout its okay to use a slow digesting carb
i usually use skim milk but i cant stomach the protein shakes anymore they literally make me gag and want to vomit.
i already have old fashioned oats so i dont want to have to go to the store

jnevin said:You could mix whey into low fat yogurt. My wife does that because she gets tired of just shakes.
Mavafanculo said:lol - you get a much better bang with whey because it's digested and assimilated during that "anabolic window" . If the taste and mixabiliy is a problem try Optimum Nutritions 100% Gold Standard Whey -- tastes great and mixes real easy with a spoon. egg whites arent bad, but slower and you have to eat like 10 to get the equivilent to a scoop of ON whey.
cindylou said:well sonofabitch
thats what i use the ON 100 gold shit. mixed with water or skim blah
but i dont want to eat 10 egg whites though

jnevin said:Elite whey from Dymatize tastes far better, is less $$$, and has the same amt. of protein as ON. I don't like ON so much.

SaladFork said:Mav is right, the ON's Whey 100% is by far the best stuff out there. No clumps ever and it mixes light, not thick like some of the other shakes... Taste good also. Now ON's Casein is a diffrent story, I hate the shit cause it's so lumpy.
JNev... Cutlers Cell-Tech has gear mixed into it.
jnevin said:Uh... No.
That's not what is says in the magazine ad.

Army Vet said:I use instant oats. There is no nutritional differences unless you purchase the Quaker flavored ones that have sugar and other BS in it. The plain stuff is the same - just cooked longer and smooshed so it cooks quicker.

I just work out like a monster, run for miles, bust my ass at the gym every night. Ipod, less crowded gym, it's on!
And it's worked out well for me. I'm gonna go grab a butterfinger right now.
