Questions that were never answered on the r-ALA thread.

"but it will still be results for one exercising, lean male".....and how much gear??

How much r-ALA you take on refeeds really depends on how wealthy you feel. Try for 100mg every 50g of carbs and see how that works.

On a refeed, your liver is going to be pretty busy using that fructose and galactose for it's own reglycogenation, so you might not need as much ALA for these sugars (eg fat-free ice cream, some fruits). I prefer to refill muscle glycogen using foods that are predominantly glucose-based, and let the left overs fill my liver rather than the other way around. But if your refeed is big enough everything will eventually get filled.

Thanks MS. Yeah, I wonder about the gear question re glycogen, insulin, etc. (Not that I know enough for it to take me long, but anyway, lol). But W6's rat study was kinda interesting.

Mmm, so whether it's rs or r-ALA, mg/g carbs is fairly similar. Darn! Godd thing I won't competing for a few years after this, because there's no WAY I'll be able to afford this type of supp with SA money, and as a student.

Would I be correct in saying that the reason I don't feel so bad near the end of the week, when I'm 6 days past the last refeed, is exactly because of ALA's repartitioning properties? Glycogen stores are being filled fuller and more efficiently, therefore what I've got stored lasts longer, right??? And would explain why I look leaner but haven't lost actual scale weight - holding water longer ....

So technically this should mean that refeed frequency could be reduced, no?

I have another question about refeeds and ALA. What about leptin? How does that fit in? Would keeping insulin low(ish) by using ALA on a refeed affect the leptin boost? Positively? Since there's more glucose rushing around in general in the muscles with ALA. Is this an unrelated question?

Estrogenic AAS normally reduce glucose clearance via reduction
of the GD6DP enzyme, (glucose transporter).

i.e. Test, EQ

Progestenic AAS increase glucose clearance via an increase in
the GD6DP enzyme.

ie. Fina, Deca
