Question About Being Sick

I train through colds and things, but if my joints hurt I take it as a sign that something more is going on. I only really get sore joints when I'm getting the flu or a secondary infection. I would take a couple days off bro. Just my opinion, but it would suck if you got fucked up and couldn't train, eat, or sleep for weeks because you didn't take a couple days off. Its happened to me more than once. Time to be slamming down the Vitamin C, echinacea, zinc, etc. Good luck and get better man

I have strep throat, aand I couldn't even sit up yesterday, so I didn't have to worry about taking a day off, my body did it for me.:)

I am just getting healthy after about 9 fucking weeks of having the flu. I could tell that something was not right with my body, but I continued to train anyway, and sure enough, I got the damn flu.

I didn't lift once during the whole 9 weeks, and when I trained back for the first time since coming back last week, I hit a PR on my deadlift and on my bicep curl! Not smart going that heavy after such a long layoff, but I felt strong as shit. WTF is up with that?
Only thing I can figure is that my CNS must have been really strained prior to being sick, and the time off allowed my body to come back much stronger.

sometimes when yer sick you get really dehydrated and itll make yer joints hurt, happens to me occasionally but i usually just make sure to drink more water than usual.

My belief is you didn't have the "FLU" you were just totally overtrained...many times the way your body forces you to stop training is you "get sick"

Being sick, sucks....that should answer all your questions...

not to "man-bash" or anything, but why are guys typically such babies when they are sick? really, is it something in the testosterone that does it?

I've gotta agree here. I'm a little bitch when I'm sick. Probably just because it threatens my progress in the gym and that gets me depressed, or at least worried. It makes me wonder if its nothing or something thats going to sap my strength and Jeopardize my training for the next week or so.

...wait a minute, I just coughed.....uhoh:bawling:

i agree thaibox...
becoming sick makes me very angry and depressed. months of hard work seem to disappear with a 1-2 week long illness.

Being in a state of overtraining did cross my mind, but I had the shits and a fever for 9 weeks. I think that overtraining may have allowed me to catch whatever it was that I had, but I've never heard of being overtrained causing a high fever and the shits.
I don't go to the doctor unless I'm on my deathbed, so I don't really know what the fuck I had.

I train through sickness...in an intelligent, careful manner.

The times that call for immediate action don't ask you if you're feeling well, nor do they postpone themselves for when you're better. The come whenever they so choose, and you are either able or you are not.

I am able.
