Question about ALA and pre contest carb-loading...

Hey brothers. I am a week out from my competition and am considering using ALA to hlp facilitate glycogen uptake into my muscle clees during the carb-up on Wed, Thurs and Fri.

Here's my problem... I've been on our board and everything seems to be all abour r-ALA and it's benefits. I know regular ALA is a combination of the 2 types, but my GNC has nothing with r-ALA in it. Am I waswting my money, or worse yet, will regular ALA have a negative effect on my body if i use it.

Before anyone flames me, I did a search, and since I am not a Platinum memner, the limited results did more to confuse me than anything else.

Thanks!

What you're looking for is Glucorell-R which is the new age name for the rala.

Glucorell R
Glucorell R™ contains the most exciting supplement ever allowed into the United States. It's been used in Germany as a glucose uptake enhancer to help prevent of diabetes for over 20 years. Now you can use it to help you prevent carbohydrates from making you fat by disposing of them like you did when you were a child. Only doctors doing research were able to buy this supplement. Until now. Glucose is what your body makes out of the carbohydrates you eat. Then your insulin shuttles that glucose around your body to the cells to use as food. Glucorell R™ makes your muscle cells accept several times more glucose than you do now. By causing the muscle cells to take up so much more glucose you are preventing it from going to the fat cells. That way you are helping to make your muscles stronger while preventing all that glucose from going to your fat cells. When your fat cells get the glucose it makes you fat and over time may eventually cause insulin resistance, leading to adult onset diabetes. Glucorell R™, taken before carb meals, insures those carbs are disposed of properly into your muscles helping you to maintain healthy low insulin levels, which is a powerful aid in preventing you from getting fat or insulin resistant. Never use a lipoic acid without biotin. Lipoic acid affects your supply of essential B vitamin Biotin. We also recommend you try GLA for improved insulin sensitivity and glucose clearance. Keep cool or refrigerated.

Okay, let me re-phrase...

I am a broke-ass college student that has spent all that he can on "supplements" AND supplements. Is the regular ALA worthless? I defifitely plan on using Glucorell R in the future, when i can afford more supps.

If the regular stuff is not a waste, what dosage do you recommend, Dr. X?

I dont' like the regular ala, it bloats and the dosages you have to take to compare to Glucorell-R would be actually MORE in price then just using G-R instead of the ala. Thus, the regular ala would cost you more than G-R b/c of the higher amount that you have to use.

Let me put it this way; if you had to drive 150 hours from one state to another, would you rather have a 1970 ford that was about to break down or a 2003 Ford mustang that was brand new? You do the math, although one is cheaper then the other, the first will not get you far while the latter will get you where you want with style.

thanks for the advice, but when I say that I am broke...that means I reach in my pocket and feel nothing but my leg.

I already have the regular ALA, a friend gave me his leftover after his last show.

So from what you said, it will bloat me, soIi should avoid it altogether, right?

Regular ala gives some people bloating and, for me indigestion. Thus, if you have it, you are welcome to try it, but it all depends on how far out you are from the show - being a week out I would suggest against experimentation w/ ALA.
