hi ladies,
lately at night ,when i lie down to go to bed, my chest hurts. i get a "butterflies in your stomach" feeling in my chest. It keeps me up at night. The left side of my chest is slightly sore if I press down on it. I am ok during the day...it just seems to be at night that my chets bothers me. Anyway, my doctor thinks it's a pulled chest muscle...........I do lift but not heavy.
My question is can i continue to train my arms and legs. Do I have to rest my whole body in order for the chest muscle to heal or can I continue to lift with my arms, legs, and do abs?
Is it enough to just stop doing the chest exercises?

P.S. I am not some super strong fitness person, i am still relatively new to training.

I would suggest that you take a break until the muscle heals. Pecs are used during arm movement even if you aren't targeting them directly. Taking one week off now will potentially save you the nagging injury later.

Train light. Training at about 50 percent of your maximum weight will speed recovery by putting blood into that muscle and consequently, nutriention into. If you understand Westside powerlifting you will get a drift of what speed work is for besides increasing your explosive power.

Also:

Try ART (Active Release Theraphy) which is designed to heal ligament wounds. The deal is that when you work out, you break down muscle. Your body rebuilds the muscle AND also creates scar tissue on your ligaments which builds up. ART is designed to get rid of the scar tissue and heal your ligaments. Integrate ART with deep massage and you will speed up your recovery and prevent injuries in the future.

Hope this helps.
