You're right on the bean thing. It's the carbs in beans that make you fart. I thought the carbs were mostly present in the coating of the bean but I can't find any indications of that.
There are certain level of nutrients which your body simply cannot handle. Whether you want to say your body can't absorb it or can't break it down or whatever, it simply cannot digest that food. This goes for any type of substance. If you eat too much fat you'll get diahhrea, if you eat too much protein you'll get gas.
The body is adaptable and can gradually adapt to higher levels of protein. Maybe the higher quality protein powder is broken down partially in the same way that your body would break it down. If you're lukcy and that is the bottleneck in your intestines, sure switching to that brand could help you.
When you get gas what that means is that rather than your normal digestive enzymes breaking down the food the food is reaching your large intestine undigested and bacteria there are feasting on it. If it hasn't been digested by the time it gets there your body is not absorbing it.
