Protein Question?

I know its not an AAS question but without a decent amoiunt of protein AAS wouldnt do shit anyway so here goes!

At the moment im using Maximuscle Progain protein shake. And im going through the 4.4 lbs (bout 20 servings) tubs like its going out of fashion, like over two a month so if i wasnt getting them slightly discounted it would be costing me £64 ($115) a month.

Surely theres a cheaper good quality protein shake than this? What would anyone reccomend? Where can i get it from? (uk based) and how much does it cost.
Idealy i just want one big tub so i dont have to keep on going out and buying more, because as im getting bigger im only gona end up drinking more and more of the crap.

Maybe im just being a tight ass. No one told me that getting big would be so damn expensive though!

Don't know how much protein you are intaking daily, but maybe you don't need as much as you may think...Maybe even add more chicken into your diet to replace the shakes if it's costing you too much...

I know what you mean Hammertime, but theres only so much you can physically eat! its a lot easier just to gulp down a shake than to try and force down another chicken fillet. Cheers for responses any way guys ill check the links and try and find a good deal.

Dairy and eggs are the highest quality proteins on the planet and by default making the protein powders from these the best. When it comes to cost, I have yet to find a whole meat source of protein cheaper than a good value protein powder when it comes to price per gram of protein.

Ok, how about this one then!

I was speaking to a nutritionist/dietitian earlier, and we managed to work out that if you added 100 mgs of skimmed milk powder into a pint of skimmed milk. Then flavoured it with some low sugar milkshake syryp you would end up with a protein shake which was higher in protein (around 45gs per serving) than some shop bought powders. and equal in carbs with the same amount of fat.

So i was wondering what the scentific logic differences would be between this and an established pritein drink. Im really considering trying it because it will cost a fraction of the price of a shop bought one.

Surely it aint this simple otherwise everyone would be doing it, so what would the differences be?

The amount of lactose/carbs would be a big difference. I can't drink more than 8oz of milk without my lactose intolerance making me feel like crap.

ok javaguru, i think youre right. I just necked a pint of skimmed milk topped up with six scoops of milk powder and it wasnt the nicest to be honest. Oh well, back to plan A, find a more cost effective brand of powder!
