I always just keep my proetin to 1 gram of proetin per pound of bodyweight, then teh rest of my cals come from fat. I ussually get 150-160 grams of fat and 180 grams of proetin and stay in ketosis very easily.
We are talking about protein calories as a ratio of your total calories consumed. On average, going over 30-45% of total caloric intake will kick you out of ketosis.
You are correct; too much protein WILL kick you out of ketosis by having the body convert the ingested protein into glucose via gluconeogenisis (actually convert certain AAs to be exact). So, you might want to steer away from protein overloading if you're concerned w/ being in ketosis.
Actually I'm a broke bastard right now and I don't have any test strips so I really have no way to know. I've been shredding some water weight so I guess until I can get some strips, I'll be clueless.
