Proper workout for a diet?

I've always assumed that the body takes in too little calories to sufficiently build miscle during dieting, so I've always tried not to overtrain, or even train as hard as if were bulking on dbol. but I've recently wondered if this line of thinking is accurate. I work to maintain muscle, not build it while dieting, but am i shooting myself in the foot? Should i still train to build muscle?
 
I believe you will lose fat and muscle no matter what when cutting, but the best you can do maintain muscle is eating enough protein (1g+ per pound of LBM weight)
 
yes, you should still train because muscle fibers will get enough stimulation for building muscle, when on cutting it helps to shape muscle. However your diet should be adjusted accordingly to your goals.
