Powerlifters @ mygym--

they are rubber plates (orange, red, yellow..ets..)... but they do damage the floor anyway. The matting on the floor pops up & gets dented at that rack.

theyre still pretty noisy...esp if your lifting right next to them-- & the acoustics at GOlds are pretty bad... maybe they need to fix that instead

well they need a platform then - and they probably aren't 3 45s one each side, since all the plates are the same size :)

The red plates are 25kg, blues 20kg, yellow 15kg etc

My gym will soon be getting a platform and 800lbs worth of bumper plates and a nice heavy duty proper oly bar and jerk racks. Soon someone will complain of my dropping weights :D

I wish people did olympic lifts at my gym. Then I wouldn't feel as awkward to actually start doing them

Haha I used to oly lift there...I am one of the guys that pissed you off...sorry but at the time it was the only gym I could find w/ bumper plates, and I had a 3 month free deal...oh well

But I agree with you on this: that gym is not for pl or oly lifters it is for bodybuilder's and fitness people and the occasional celeb. I wouldn't go to Westside and do tricep kickbacks in their power rack.

I would have suggested bumper plates also, but since they're already using them... if they work out at the same time regularly, perhaps you could find a different time to work out so they aren't there when you are (assuming that fits your schedule).
