I'm on ckd now while cutting so I would say no. I take a whey protein shaker after my workout. Dont really have the luxury of choosing :) Just do what works best for urself.

Fat?

After your workout?

Please explain, unless you are on CKD, then I understand

Yah, sort of...I'm trying out Mr. X's ANPB diet. Pretty decent so far (two weeks in). I feel better than I did when I ran a typical CKD.

did ya get the runs?

Hell, all I know is that I NEVER put on muscle when cutting like I do now that I take dextrose PWO. I never came close and I've done it all, ckd, atkins, etc.

well 75 grams is 300 calories

so if you work out 5 times per week

it's about a 1,500 calorie difference per week if you do or do not put it in your after workout shake

between 1/3 and 1/2 pound of weight I guess

protein and fat is fine for a meal after cardio. But after weights, you want dextrose and protein powder

If you're really serious about cutting you want to eat real food and not shakes. Something along the lines of 1-1 1/2 cup of rice, 8-10oz of Potato & 2 scoops of Protein Powder(Whey)in water. Some of the top bodybuilders don't use post-workout drinks at all, just whole food.

I doubt adding in dextrose will make that big a difference...

I beg to differ. Your muscles need it for repair. Faster recovery will yield more muscle gain which will yield faster metabolism.

First time I hear that

You mean that after a weight lifting workout, they don't drink a shake of protein + high GI carbs but a whole food = P+C+F ?

Why ?

Yeah. that what I have always thought and done. A guy write that a diet that wrote his diet should have proteins and fats and no carbs for PWO. I wrote that I had always thought that you should only have proteins and fast carbs for PWO. He said that some intelligent guy that wrote the anabolic diet writes that you shouldn´t have any carbs for PWO and that he has read many articles where it says that you should only have protein and fat for PWO.
He gave me this link bodybuilding.com/fun/md92.htm

Absolutely. PWO, carbs are hands down the best way to replenish muscle glycogen. This facilitates repair, growth and gets you back in the gym faster. I certainly limit carbs OUTSIDE the PWO window, and limit the carbs inside it to high GI carbs for maximum glycogen regeneration.

ANY gram of carbohydrate you can take out of your daily diet, and put in your PWO meal while cutting is great. But let's be reasonable. 50g of dextrose PWO in a cut is just going to stall you. I get almost all of my carbs from skim milk PWO on a cut (usually drink 3 glasses of lactose free milk for ~24g carbs, which contains 12g glucose and 12g galactose). The rest of the day it's low or no carbs, and even CKD when I can afford it.

This way of eating, and IF, allowed me to drop from 25% BF to around 9% BF in 1 year.

Hi guys im new here i was told PWO to have protein shake (WPI) and some carbs rice, potato etc....
Should i add this dextrose?

I would aim to add a little bit of dextrose. If you are concerned with too many carbs (or fat gain), every gram of dextrose you consume should replace 1 g of carbs elsewhere, from your PWO meal... or preferably from other meals pre WO.

definatly yes . when dieting ill have 50g hi gi carbs (60g cheerios) 30/45 mins pre and the same again pwo , do like me cheerios . the rest of the day all other carbs come from vegs only. dont be scared of carbs especially around wo time evan when dieting .

i like having a small white potato (nothing on it) with my Big Blast with a few caps of gear. :) only my post workout meal though. other than that my other meals are strictly natural foods...tilapia, fresh asparagus, etc.

SHould be fine i generally do that, as you want your glycogen levels to spike after your workout, so simple carbs will do that straigth away, rather than complex.

How does dextrose compare to fruit post-workout?

Also, would you have one or both?

I'd also be interested in knowing that. I usu. do a scoop of whey with a banana for a PW weightlifting shake. Then I usually make a tuna or turkey sandwich with whole grain bread. For about 214lbs I'm not not sure if I'm getting enough carbs or too much.

I have dextrose, I'm just not sure if I should be using it if my primary goal is fat loss

Depends on your meal schedule I'd say... And not just that. It's your goal, diet, workout timing... Probably more.

no way!! post work out your GH levels are at their peak, if you spike it you body will stop producing GH, wait at least 30 mins before you consume any carbs, of course you should have your whey protein right after..
