post up your favorite shoulder exercises

Yeah, arnolds are good. I'm a fan of doing some standing military press supersetted with good old fashioned lat flys. When I got my biggest last year I literally only did 4 exercises for shoulders.

Also, I grab a 45lb weight off the benches along with a 35, 25, etc. Lay them out on separate benches. Start with the 45, hold each side and do a front raise. I call these 'steering wheels' bc that's what it looks like. I finish my workout with these. Do as many as I can with the 45, then work my way down til I'm struggling with a 10 or 15. I don't leave til I'm Too sore to lift my water bottle. ;-)

I made the mistake of hittin the gym yesterday in the hr before physical therapy....

then the pt had some sadistic upper back exercises for me....I could barely move a three lb db ..so ya...I get the water bottle analogy
I'm a fan of to failure in everything I do...except squats..cuz I have this mental image of the bar going flying past the squat rack and killing someone behind me

I gotta do something....I have a weird nerve impingement in my left shoulder so that'll take some extra love

the physical therapist had me doin DB "swimmers" and they really brought to my attention that while my shoulders are pretty large...they're incredibly weak

I played competitive softball for years up until college - I got pinched nerves in my shoulders a LOT. I'd look down and my hand would look like a Mickey Mouse hand, all puffy and stuff...it's no fun. Just gotta massage where you feel the discomfort, I'd do it after practices and it usually just worked itself out

You know what I found helped the overall develpment of my shoulders wasn't heavy lifting to be honest. I keep pushing it then I would hurt it.

This giant set is awesome
DB front raise
DB side lateral
DB rear delt row

Lower weights reps at about 8-12 reps per set slow concnetraited movements 3-4 sets and you are done.

I don't know what these are called, other than "dynamic" something or other, but... I put two full size barbells on the floor, parallel to one another and with the ends butted up against the wall. I stand at the other end of them, facing them, and alternately lift them above my head. Varying the angle that u stand at them will change what part of ur shoulder ul hit. I'll do a set of 50 or so, depending on the weight I put on it. Ul need someone to help u lift them up off the ground and put them back down unless ur really flexible and well balanced. :)

I use this as a quick hitter for shoulders if I only have 15-20 minutes to get a quick workout in.

After a warmup of 5 minutes on the treadmill and light shoulder exercises I do the following giant set:

5 reps of dumbbell presses--35lb dumbbells
10 reps of front raises--25lb plate
20 reps of lateral raises--8lb dumbbells
Run 2 minutes

Repeat this 3 times and it won't take more than 20 minutes.

I have a nerve impingement in my left shoulder too from softball and dislocations, etc. I stretch in between each set when I work my shoulders or else I can't lift my arm for 1-2 days after....or sleep like now. Lol....this is going to sound odd but after I work shoulders that night I lay flat on the floor on a tennis ball where the impingement is and the pain is so much less the next day. Don't know why but its always worked.

yeah...I can see how it would work but mines a neck disc problem that just happens to go through the left arm and now jaw because a disc higher up is screwed up..

I do use tennis balls for my scapula though and it works rather nicely
