Along the same lines as what Big Brother Val and KingJohn said, I enter the gym with the 'intention' of having a great workout. I leave everything else outside and focus on my breathing and my awareness of my muscles. I have been doing numerous breathing techniques for meditative purposes for years now and I have been able to apply most of those associated principles to working out. All of my movements are concentrated and deliberate and typically fall under the parameters of the super-slow methods. I think visualization is the key. Being able to see, in your mind, the muscles working and the effects on the full range of fibers, is in my opinion, paramount.

And less reality-based...if I feel as though I need a little extra edge, I imagine my muscles being enhanced with hydraulics. Sounds a little crazy, but it works for me.

Sorry if I rambled...

uhhh - the weight? I think about proper form, making sure the right muscles are working and are working as hard as they can, and I'm making sure I don't fuck myself up by dropping the weight.

if I think of anything other than that, then the set usually gets cut short.
during cardio my mind is all over the place, but lifting is very focused.

I have trained myself using Hypnosis techniques, to shut off most conscious thought processes (for the most oart I cant talk during a set ....) and use all available energy and stamina for competing the set.

This is so dramnatic, tyhat I can be dead tired when I walk in the gym, and when I walk towarsd the rack ........ but once I grab by weights and sit down - and give myself a Go signal, the energy kicks in. Bam.

The only problem is that up until very recently, this was so effective that ot would also block out the typical overtraining signals ........

I don't what the hell it is I think about during reps, but after reading this damn post I'm sure I'll be thinking about what the hell it is I'm thinking about while I'm trying to work out.

Maude...???!!!! Holy fuck he's ugly. I guess if you imagined the bar to be her...er... his legs spread eagle decending naked hairy terror upon your face, you could easily find the strength to push it off of you, but shit that's alot of suffering to get up 1 extra rep.

Anyways, thanks alot E, that's probably what I'll be thinking about during my reps tonite...:splat:

I just thought this was a ridiculous question, so I gave a ridiculous answer.
