Police beating in Irvine CA

The punch was excessive.

However, I understand why the cop did it. That doesn't make it right however.

I'm all for the police exercising necessary force, but they shouldn't be happy or proud when they have to.

What will be interesting is whether or not the officer ever had a history of excessive force in the past.

I just saw on the news that the officer who slammed & punched him was already being investigated for being part of a group of cops who beat a suspect into a coma 3 months ago.

perception? you mean, reality? Read any history book and you'll find that just over 30 years ago African-Americans were still being beaten down in the streets and were being denied admission into many of our nation's universities.

Moreover, read, any recent newspaper and you'll find polls where African-Americans overwhelmingly allege that they have been the victims of racial profiling. Browse through any federal court reporter and you'll find an abundance of cases where both juries and appeals courts have agreed that African-Americans have been the target of invidious discrimination.

This has to be one of your most ignorant statements yet...and judging by your previous posts that is saying quite a lot.

That was, as you said, more than 3 decades ago. Get with the times. In todays country, it is practically impossible to make any decisions based on race due to people like "The World's Most Racist Man" himself, Jesse Jackson.

Moreover, read, any recent newspaper and you'll find polls where African-Americans overwhelmingly allege that they have been the victims of racial profiling.

These polls prove absolutely nothing at all. You would have to be braindead to fail to realize that many minorities claim to have been discriminated against every time something doesnt go their way. I have been discriminated against by members of other races and cultures, but you dont see me whining and bitching while trying to get something simply because Im caucasian.

For the love of GOD, the guy didn't even get hit hard!!!

They calling it assault with a deadly weapon because he tossed him onto the car.

The media is over reacting and so are a lot of people on this board.

I could see the outrage if the cop wound up and slugged the dude.

Pussies.

As always, you've offered absolutely nothing to support your contentions. Whereas, I will be more than happy to pull a few among thousands of ACTUAL court cases where African-Americans have been deemed to be the targets of individous discrimination by your peers----jurors. I suppose your peers lie also, right?

how about I punch you in the face not very hard and you tell me how you like it?

I'd be fully acceptable to being punched if I was dumb enough to resist arrest *and* assault a police officer.

In fact, I'd expect to get hammered a hell of a lot harder than that kid did.

It's easy to be tough and threatening over the internet. So I'll forgive your belligerent and incompetant raving.

idiot, I was trying to prove a point and not threaten you.

I fully comprehended your point, but it's irrelevent. The punch was not hard. The media and people like you are acting like the kid was hospitalized.
