Talking about an injury that will be with you for a while.
Get a herniated disk in you back, and be ready for years of misery.

this might be dangerous, but a number of times when benching on my own, i've gone to failure and havnt been able to get the bar back up, so i just drop it to the side. The trouble is it takes ages taking off all the weights to put the bar back on the rack.

I have an injury that deformed my bicep for life. Please be careful when you do preacher curls. I did something totally rookie. I was on my fifth set of standing preacher curls. First mistake, I usually stop at 4 sets. I decided to try and max out 5 lbs higher than my max, and on the second reps, the tendon that attaches the posterior bicep snapped off of my deltoid. Talk about pain. I ended up with black and blue bruises on both side of my bicep within 2 days. Now, my bicep hangs down because it's detached for one of the heads. I tried to get it fixed by 3 specialists in Boston, but no-one would do it. As a result, I can never compete, due to the lack of symmetry in my arm. When I flex, it's a very high peak, but it looks like part of the bicep is missing. My strength is only slightly weaker now that it's recovered. The only real problem is my vanity gets in the way. Unflexed it looks the same as the other one. Hope this helps someone.

Cripes I remember years ago I herniated a disk and it took almost a year for me to get back into the gym. Even to this day I still get occasional slight pain.

This whole story is making me squirm.

405 Pound Trap Bar Deadlift @ 210 bodyweight......4th rep ....heard a "pop" , I wished someone had just opened up a can of Pepsie but unfortunately it was the wall of my abdomen...yes the infamous hernia, many of you may remember my post pre surgery, took 3 months to get back to the gym, I'm in my 5 month back, poundages no where near the same. But making progress...watch the deadlift people.

Peace,
The Natural one
