Please explain ketonic diet....

I tried the SEARCH, and kinda got an idea.... but still weren't any direct answers because everyone already seems to know what it is.

I gathered that ketosis is a state of fat-burning, right? And a ketonic diet is a diet that brings you into that state. What are ketosis sticks? Are they like a test to see if your body is in ketosis? That's what I gathered.

If I've got it right so far, could someone please explain the fundamentals of a ketonic diet.... as I'm considering trying it.

The last two diets I went on, were low-carb, no-fat, high-protein.... and they worked okay. In fact, one of the times.... I cut carbs completely for almost two weeks, so it was no-fat, no-carbs, all-protein.... which probably wasn't the best thing for preserving muscle, and definitely wasn't the best thing for energy.

From what I've read, a ketonic diet seems to be very low carbs, moderate fat and high protein.... or something like that. I'm a bit weary about eating fat.... just doesn't seem right to me.... I'm not sure I'd feel comfortable about eating fat in the few weeks before I go on my beach vacation. But, I guess I'll give it a try.

Would it be worth using an ECA while doing a ketonic diet? And does cardio and weight training stay the same?

If someone could outline the basics of ketosis, I would appreciate it. I couldn't really find what I needed in the search. Thanks.

WRONG!

you need your diet to be about 70% fat !!!!!!

and the rest protein... fat is essential to the ketogenic diet..

yes... ketostix can be bought at the local drug store and you
pee on them to see if your body is releasing ketones... thats
a sign that you are burning fat for energy....

I'll list a few responses to some of your topics:1-eating alot of fat is actually better for you than it may sound-it is the basis of the atkins diet2-keto stix are sticks that you urinate on to see if you are in ketosis.3-eca stack is a good idea on a keto diet.4-you will be weaker when it comes to lifting on a keto diet and cardio will further cause muscle loss-you should probably lift 3 days a week on keto diet

Interesting.... so.... either cardio, or keto.... not both.

70% fat?? How long would one want to keep up this sort of diet? It doesn't sound too healthy....

The other thing I'm thinking.... is you'd probably gain back the weight pretty fast when you went off the keto diet, right? Is there any way to avoid that?

you can eat a high fat diet for years if you choose-and you should only go off the keto diet when you have reached your goal-after that just don't go crazy with changes and you'll be ok

does this diet effect the mind,i mean i am in college and i dont want to get this ill food cravings or something if i do keto
3days lifting MONDAY,TUESDAY,WEDNESDAY, THURSDAY rest friday and saturday small cardio, sunday carb upp?
