One exercise that benefits over strength

What one exercise do you think would make someone overall strong ? In my mind it would be the deadlift. What do you guys think ???
 
Deadlift would be my number one choice as well. Squat is another total body movement everyone should be doing.
 
Are you only going to do one? If not it's a moot point. It's a question I am not going to answer because I would never train that way and I think its idiotic that anyone would. If you are a powerlifter in a certain exercise then obviously you would focus on that lift. Otherwise it makes abpyt as much sense as asking what one food you can eat and nothing else to benefit your body
