OK, I know this is going to sound really lame but here it goes. What is the purpose of a training belt and what will I gain or prevent from using one?? Not only that, but I notice that people wear them some days and not others. What training days do I use it???

i only use mine when i'm squatting 5 reps or less ,doing heavy deadlifts and front squats.Thats it. Don't become to dependent on a belt. I see so many fools wearing a belt for everything. Wearing a belt for every single exercise actually weakens your abs and lower back.

This needs to be posted in my gym. There are these two skinny guys that come in together. They strap on their belts and gloves and ONLY do BENCH PRESS (for like 100 sets). Then they leave. Seems like they're doing this every day I see them. :confused:
 
i agree with Hannibal .....he recomends not wearing one unless you have an injury.......... train your lower back and your abs.......... dont rely on your belt as a crutch for a weak core......
 
the belt is not intendedto be used to for lower back back suport as many people think, it offers very little if any support, it is used to increase intra abdominal preasure giving a stabolizing effect. work your low back and abs and leave the belt in the bag unless you are doing 1-4 set squats or deads. the reason alot of people belive it helps suport the low back is because it forces proper form witch than eases the stress to the low back, it's amazing what proper from can do for you
