thanks cubanito.
i have done it all diet and weight wise.
when i was 23, i was 320lbs and big as hell but way FAT.
when i was 27, i decided i wanted to look like a bodybuilder and got down to like 235.
when i was 29, i decided i wanted to be a powerlifter for real this time, but not look fat and compete at a healthier weight class for myself.
a lot of it is genetics. some people are endomorphs and it will be hard for them to get 'fit' looking. some are ectomorphic and it will be hard for them to get big.
IMO, to be the best powerlifter you can, i think your training needs are different. you will need to get blockier, cut out all the bodybuilding rep shit (except you freak19
and stick to the basics.
i actually think dieting remains somewhat consistent for all body types. avoid a lot of sugar. eat a lot of protein (and fat). if you want to gain weight, increase the calories (slowly). if you want to lose weight decrease the calories (slowly).
i actually do not like eating. you dont want to know how much money i spend on protein powder. but if you have a healthy appetite and the time each day to eat 5-6x, you don't need it. i am too busy and dont like much food except steak and hamburgers. can't exactly fire up the old grill at work 3 x a day.
good luck.
