Ok car nerdvigs. Time to get serious here

Buying a new vehicle is just ridiculous...the depreciation is way too bad..you can prob find a 2013 with 500 miles for way cheaper

I don't think that someone shopping for an M6 has to worry about being thrifty.

They're dropping the prices on the 2013's even now.

But I wonder if I'm screwing myself on trade-in value.

Historically I drive cars till they're 120+K miles because it seem thrifty.

If you're trading in, you'll either get a good value for your old car, OR you'll get a good deal on the new one. You seldom get both, unless you're trading in the same brand. You just need to have an idea of what balance you want to pay.

For example, if you're trading in the Range Rover on an M6, the RR plus $75K could mean you're paying full boat on the M6 but making out like a bandit on the RR, or you're getting a great deal on the M6 and getting raped on the RR. It's the same money either way you look at it.

I think if I was in your shoes I would buy new...like DB said...I would try really hard to get the dealer down. I would take a 2013...if the prices are much lower...what are the differences in options from the 2014?

There really isn't a difference at all between the 2013 and 2014.

They've now offered $12K off a 2013, but I think I could get that raised to $15k (or more).

The 2014 is more like list price.

But fast forward three years from now. Would a 2014 selling in 2016 sell for $12-$15k more than a 2013 selling in 2016?

I just wonder if it's basically the same money either way.
