Off Days? Necessary even on gear?

  • 1 day I do absolutely nothing but EAT!

On i have to force myself to rest , i could go everyday but try train 5 out of 7 days instead .

Off can be a real struggle ... off seperates the men from the boys , 4 out of 7 will maintain gains but not pack on much of anything new . I hurt like hell the next day so it pretty much forces me to take a day in lue


Adjusting the weight post cycle is the tough part ... getting use to chucking around 20% more on cycle is a mental challenge to back off post cycle , this is where alot of guys fuckup and get injured or return to the juice to fast because they can't handle the strength lose .

Those who advocate that steroids are not addictive are full of fucking shit !! Maybe not physicaly but definatly mentaly for the weak of heart ... steroid depression is very real .

I normally take a complete day off every ten days or so, but every 4th day only do am cardio and keep calories moderate and let my body rest.

Normally if I just do cardio in the am my body recovers fine and the next day I am ready to rock! I was bulking it would be 3 on 1 off to allow full recovery to take place.
 
This is actually a very good poll.

I have been training hard, real hard 6 days a week. Yesterday I was at the gym 2 and ½ hours and felt rushed, could have stayed and worked another ½ hour easy.

This week will only be 5, because of work, but I feel like training twice on Saturday.


I feel like I could train everyday. But I think that would be counter productive.
Don’t really know.

Have never trained twice in same day. I know people do it, and it seems to make sense.

2 days rest between body parts seems adequate to me, I use to take one week off between body parts.

I go to a big gym in Costa Mesa, has everything, I don’t talk to anyone, just stretch, do abs, turn of the phone and hit the weights.

My cycle is test only 1 gram a week with liquidex and novladex, have never really done this type of cycle before, a function of lack of resources at present.

i rest 1 full day usually sundays and eat alot!! i do 3-4 days weight training and 3 days am cardio.
 
i usually do 2-3 days or weight traing with alil cardio afterwards then take a day off from training and just hit the cadio
i will usually take 1 day off from everything even the diet and relax and eat
i still eat well just alot of food and maybe a cheat here and there usually sundays are my rest day
 
Great thread. I do cardio 6 days a week for 1 hour, and lift after cardio on m,w,f doing the trifecta of deadlifts, bench and squats. I find that it is impossible for me to lift more than 3 days a week with the above routine. :garza:
 
I train a minimum of 5 days.....usually 6, and today is my complete rest day. IT SUCKS! I hate every minute of it, but I know I need it. It doesnt help tht I sit all day in an office, but I gots to do it....

tell me, you you switch up your macros on off days? Still take in a prebed shake?
 
I'll take at least one whole day off. sometimes two if I feel I need it, but they are spread out

5-6 days of training a week on or off cycle with 30 minutes of cardio at the end of each session. sometimes ill add an extra cardio in the AM but lately i havent been able to get up that early in the AM
 
I train 3 days on, 1 day off....then 2 days on, 1 day off.... regardless of whether I'm "on" or "off".... the only things that differ are the intensity and the types of exercises (I change these up every so often)... oh, and diet too of course, depending on whether I'm cutting or bulking... I eat the same every day, even when it's my off-day (shakes and everything)... I usually incorporate a cheat day once a week too

7:30 am
pro complex protein shake

8:30 am
3 egg bacon and cheese omlette
homefries
2 pieces of wheat toast with strawberry jam
a few big bites of my sons pancakes with syrup

11:30-noonish
hardee's 6 dollar burger with fries
couple bites of my sons chicken strips

4pm
1/2 chicken, dark meat, pulled from the bone and mixed with some KC masterpiece slapped between 2 peices of w.w. bread

7pm
big ass plate of beef fried rice and some lo mein

8 pm
couple chocolate chip cookies and milk

9pm
BED!!

I LOVE CHEAT DAYS!!

thats it!! i dont take any other days off. cardio days i'm currently eating about 3500 cals(clean), weight training days about 4000+ cals(clean).
 
training varies for every person. saying that you need 5 to 6 days a week of weights to add new muscle and all else maintains is completely false. it all depends on the individual. i know national level competitiors who train 3 to 5 days a week, believe it or not the one who goes 3 days a week came in 7th at the world championships all natural. its an individual thing.

No need for less, correct. For more? That just depends bro.......some recover much better with two off in a row, others skip w and sunday.........etc.
 
i personally feel guilty if i'm not a the gym @ least 6 days a week. it's funny how the mind will play tricks on you. you miss 1 day and seems like you feel fatter and look fatter, but in reality 1 f*cking day isnt all that bad. i'm just ate up with it though. i love it though. i wouldnt trade it for anything.
 
Wow, I make sure I do something every day at least cardio. Its hard just sitting around when there is someone out there getting bigger, stronger, faster, quicker, more agile, more cut, doing more drills, learning more information, becoming better than I am. I know you have to have your off days, but my off days consist of just some cardio of my choice which is usally on sunday if I don't lift.

Monday-Agility/Plyos-
Tuesday-Quickness/Power Lift
Wednesday-Agilty/Plyos-
Thursday-Quickness/Power-Lift
Friday-Conditioning
Saturday-Cardio-Lift
Sunday-Cardio

i go to a 5 day schedule when on,
mon back
tues chest
wed legs
thur arms
fri shoulders

i don't really worry about over training while on

thanks to all.....1 day off for me if what I am shooting for and on that day, 30 minutes of light cardio...still makes me feel sluggish by 6pm, but its a necessary evil I guess....

I think i might do that 30 min cardio on that off day..would benefit me greatly and the addtional cardio will be good to lean out.
 
off days i stick to jumping rope and jumping jacks. if im lucky and theres a double dutch jumprope contest in harlem i hit that shit up hard and count that as a training day.
 
My body needs to rest at least 1-2 full days a week, regardless. My strength and pumps are WAY better when well rested and feeling 100%.

You might not need it but if you want to build muscle you should take it. prob 2 days a week. I usually take less rest days when I want to get cut/solid
