obsessed?

Hi everyone,

It has been awhile since I have posted but I have a few questions once again. I have been training harder then ever and have definitely been seeing some amazing results! I will post new pics on the weekend. I have gained muscle and lowered the bf but I am still not satisfied. The more I train the more I am consumed by all of this. I have been feeling a little out of control. I spend alot of time analyzing my body parts, thinking about diet and workouts etc...Is this normal (I hate that word!) but do you all feel the same way?

ob·sess
v. ob·sessed, ob·sess·ing, ob·sess·es
v. tr.
To preoccupy the mind of excessively.

v. intr.
To have the mind excessively preoccupied with a single emotion or topic: “She's dead. And you're still obsessing” (Scott Turow).

:D

Most people are intensely interested in one thing or another. But if you feel "out of control," that's a bad thing.

I think it's normal to be focused, but if an obsession gets in the way of your daily living then that could be dangerous.

Yes, if you're feeling out of control, it could be a bad thing. This might lead you to overtrain and maybe injury. Be focused, but be smart about it.

normal or not normal is bullshit. who determines what normal is anyway and who cares....

question is- does effect your life as whole positively or negatively?

simple as that, imo

Why don't you quantify where you are now, what your progress is and then set your goals. This is an easy way to determine when you have achieved what you set out to do. If you are doing it and just keep doing it, you might go too far and not know it. Get someone at your gym to do a good body fat measurement & weight, measure your biceps, whatever. Then check back again every two weeks. If you are making major changes over 2 week intervals, it may be too much and you can back off a little. If not, just keep going. But keep it to slow changes - these will remain with you longer. Faster, shock-like changes to your body will work for a while but eventually your body will rebel and start slowing down to protect itself from the fast changes. Then the whole effort will just backfire on you.

Another thing to keep in mind is that its one thing to pursue a goal. Its a completely different thing to MAINTAIN that goal! Keeping that in mind can help you determine when you have surpassed maintenance and gone into obsession.
