Post count= number of posts.....that's it

Most of the time, high post counts are from people yapping on the chat board

My bent friend here is correct. I started on this board wanting to learn about steroids which I have yet to try for the first time. I ended up spending a lot of time on the Training, Diet, and Supps boards and learned a great deal.

And yeah, I remember old diamonddiceclay...what a character. I think he was a knowledgeable guy, but for whatever reason refused to provide any backup for what he said.

But lately, I've fallen into the festering sludge of the Chat board. It's really quite addicting, as I have a lot of goof off time available to me at work and it helps to pass the time. And there are some VERY entertaining and bright guys and gals over there. But I am going to spend more time back where I started, here on the Training board.

So the moral is that post count CAN IMPLY knowledge, or it can be an indicator, but it is hardly proof of anything. Proof is in the posts, plain and simple. Folks like bignate73, endpoint, heavywear, spatts are the real article around here and that is obvious in their posts. Hell, even (God help me) Toybox gets lucky once in a while :D .

I remember a while ago there was a guy, called"Diamondsclay",if I am not mistaken, who would answer almost every post .

He will be very laconic with his answer and when he would be chalenged to back up his theory or answers , he would just say"I Know" or some old cliche.

Once he even told me ,when I was a little baffled by quite different answers, that I should believe because "Dont you see that I have over 4000 posts? Would you believe me or some guys with 500 posts?"

Quite a moronic answer...

Do you think that the more posts one have the more knowledgeable is? Does more means better?

I would say that the quality of an answer is not measured by the number of posts.

You might have noticed there are guys who would reply by monosyllabic words or similies, whereas there are guys with thousands of posts who know what they are saying they and can back up their theory with logic details or references.

No, I have a shitloads of posts from talking politics and other crap in chat and conversation. I have been lifting for approx 6 months only. I do know a fair bit about aerobic exercise and some knowledge of martial arts though, BUT there are many on here who post less who know a great deal more.

The best people on here for martial arts info, for instance, are B Fold and Thaibox. Actually, B Fold is one of the best folks on ehre, period.

# of posts me nothing, but you can tell who has their shit together because they will back up statments and more importantly they have gotten results. When asking for advice you need to be prepared to receive some good and some bad.

Number of posts does not equal knowledge. What if Charles Poliquin started posting under a weird name so no one knew who he was; you should take his advice into consideration no matter how many posts he has. Same goes for anyone else with experience or knowledge.

I do agree with the statement that most high post counts come from the chat board.

I personally think karma is a better indicator of intelegence

I beg to differ!

Karma cannot be a real indicator of one's intelligence as karma can be bought or can be earned due to subjective reasons.

I personally dont care how many posts one has or how much karma he has, but I will take in consideration one's POV if he/she can bring irrefutable arguments or reputable references.

To perceive someone as being intelligent requires a lot more than a bunch of green squares ,as intelliegence is such a broad concept that requires to show not only the ability to think and understand things clearly and logically, but also to have the capacity to learn quickly, often implying mental resourcefulness, cunning or ingenuity...

On the other hand, karma could be a positive indicator of one's ability to get his point across or to have posted some useful info in regard to various topics.

PS>I am gonna buy some karma..Would that make me more intelligent???

i used to have over 4000 posts.....somehow they got lost down to around 2000. (i think george wanted to knock my ego down a notch) :D

back when this board was basically just the AS board and training didnt get much traffic (way back when...LOL) the number of posts generally meant, "this person has something valuable to say...hence knows his/her stuff." with the addition of the chat board, there were people on elite for 2 months that had more posts than vets on for 2 years. so that shot the knowledge theory out of the water.

now its just a matter of reading the text and judging for yourself if someone is credible instead of looking.....

<-----over there.

but you can buy only a certain amount of karma right? if not than I take everything I ssaid back, but usually with intellegence comes karma, which can be illustrated by B Fold, Spatts, and Cornholio just to name a few
