Hey all! ;)

I haven't bee on here in awhile, there's a few of you that replied to a post long time ago....I'd be alittle embarassed to reply to it (I havent checked back here in months! sorry, but at least schools over for now) I think I'm going to be here for a very long time now

Lately I've been wondering if I've been eating too much/too little. Gotta feeling I'll be on the wall of shame when I tell you what i've been eating. Today I've had:
80 oz of water (through out the day so far) more to go!
11:00 am - 1 Diet Coke, 1 gardenburger w/bun and lots of vegetables topped on. I think thats about 300 cal, 20g fat? 30-40ish carb - for breakfast/lunch. guessing
3:00 pm - America's Protein Bar in chocolate peanut butter(doesn't taste half bad!), cal 190, 6g fat, 17g carb, 20g protein

That's about it so far.... I feel kinda bloated though. and today is the day I'm going to start getting back in shape. :worried: I'm not sure if I'm eating too little or too much. I stocked up on several containers of cottage cheese, and chocolate whey protein shake powder.....please help this slob *points at self*

Oh, I forgot to mention my statistics. I'm about 5'6 and 125 pounds now. measurements are like 35 - 28 - 34....I've never gotten my body fat percentage checked, but you can probably guess by my waist measurement I don't have a whole lot of muscle. :(

What are you trying to do? Gain or lose?

Track your diet on www.fitday.com. Also check the stickies at the top of the board some great sample diets depending on what you want to do.

Check the sticky "Are you new to EF Ladies' board - START HERE" at the top of the board. Lots of good links to get you started.

Thanks! I'll be checking the sticky...... as for gaining and losing.... I really want to lower my BF. :( and my legs, for 125lbs are actually pretty scrawny...my calve muscles are almost nonexistant. I want em huge!

For dieting, I dont really know what i'm doing. Someone said to lose fat, I need to restrict, and to do that, I need to eat less.... they said eat 500calories or less. :eek2: and then I hear all about these stupid diets..."eat under 20gram carbohydrates a day!" I'm seventeen. I don't know where to even begin, because I've been told/heard so many different things these last few years.

girl you only ate twice yesterday, I don't think it's possible for you to eat any less.

Your calories should be 10-12 x your body weight, for the day. Then divide that number by 5 or 6 and that it the amount of calories you should have at every meal. You need to be eating every 3 hours, which should come to 5 or 6 meals per day.

A good ratio would be 40% protein, 30% carbs, 30% fat.

OMFG don't follow that diet!!! Like Sassy said read the stickies. At your age your diet shouldn't be so restrictive. I think there was a thread a while back regarding a teen diet let me see if I can find it.

Hey all....I am just checking in. :D

I wanted to say thank you so much for helping me get started. I am kinda motivated... It's been a few days, and I can already see a difference in my body, and attitude. My diet consists of two protein shakes...edit: rrg, I kind of skipped listing my meals (lol :D). I eat about 1000 to 1200 cals in meals total every day. I've been eating boca burgers, small servings of meats, TRYING to eat fruits and vegetables...(it's been helping my skin), and tons of cottage cheese. not even going to bother with that low carb thing anymore, it really hasnt helped me at all, (and i've been trying to do it for several months).

I am not seeing a difference in my body fat yet, but I can definitely see my calve and leg muscles starting to POP! Anyway, thanks again, you guys are so helpful - I will continue to lurk these boards to learn more. :)

Takes a while to see changes in bodyfat when you first change your diet. "Low carb" has a place in a diet, but a perpetual low carb diet is bullshit. It is not a maintainable lifestyle. The best way to incorporate "low carb" into your diet is with carb rotation. But you can worry about that later. Right now you just need to get a consistent diet going for a couple of weeks.

I still think you need more food. 1000 cals aint' enough for someone your size. Include fruit, but not a lot. Focus alot on green veggies. Get some good clean carbs in there and I'm not sure I'd go nuts with the cottage cheese. Its good but I dont know what "tons of cottage cheese" is.
