i did 5 sets of 10 today and have no pain, it was not an extemely heavy weight but i felt like i could go on and on...i only became stressed during the last 1 or 2 reps of each set.
4 hours later it feels great. is this normal?

Well, Sagat for one has told me, that you don't necessarily need to feel soreness to indicate muscle growth. But if you could do more, you probably need to up the weight a big. Try tacking on 10 lbs or so. But it's good you're feeling strain towards the end of each set. Generally, I think that's what you should aim for.

I dont get very sore from deads but I am using real low reps and not going to failure very often. mostly training for power and speed. Ripping the bar up, not thinking IF I will get it but how FAST. Generally sets of 3. Even if I could get 10 maybe.

When I did deads on Sunday... I had to take Advil Sunday night to get to sleep because my legs ached. I feel every rep on deads. I feel like my legs are the strings of a guitar and somebody has just strummed them hard. It literally feels like my legs start to vibrate on the last couple reps. My back feels like it is going to rip through my chest.

I use max weight to failure every set. I'm old school.

:D I love deads. :D

I don't usually feel it in my back until the following day. I also feel it a lot in my bis. I do 5x5 on deads or sometimes 4x5...
I'd suggest cranking up the weight as well..
Thanks
ryan

Yep...you definitely need to crank up the weight. I feel it in my back the next day or so. I don't ever go up to 10 reps on my weight, though when I go heavy. It would kill me. I never go higher than 5.

What reason were you doing the sets of 10 for? Just for fun...or a change?

I'm the same... 5-6 reps is TOPS for me. I will do one set of 12 after I have down my work sets... but with a very light weight.

while i'm doing my deads, i can really feel it in the bottom of my back. On my last rep it feels like my backs being pulled apart, and of course its sore the next day. Does this mean i'm not using proper technique? Any tips, thanks!

just for fun...im gonna go down to say 8 this week.
whats the reason for so many of you doing sets of 5?

Were all different, but I think your body has become accustomed to the weight and rep range, you need to throw it a curve ball. Up the weight and drop the reps. I can't imagine doing a seriouse amount of weight 10x on deads, I would simply run out of oxygen and fall over. Yes I breath allot and well. Have fun..
