no chl but am going on a trip,what to do?

i am going on a road trip thru Tx and am consiering bringing my glock however my girl is scared that since i do not have a chl if we get stopped searched and they(cops) find my handgun and i may go to jail,,are there any legalities that i need to be aware of?..someone told me that if you can prove you are traveling that its ok..any one have a clue?

Put it inside a zippered case at least, unloaded and in an area of the vehicle
outside of your reach (back seat etc).. Not glove box or console.

In most every state, this will meet the traveling in a vehicle with firearm requirement. Texas is fairly loose on its gun regulations.

Either that or go the the Texas States home page and look up the statutes
on firearms.,
