Need some advice

Hey ladies,

A friend of mine told me to sign up here and get some advice. He says this is the best place to get info. Well, here it goes. I'm a Vet. Nurse and work crazy hours that are never consistant. It's hard to get on a good sleeping, eating, and workout program due to the hours. I have been good about making time to get to the gym, but I'm not doing so great on the diet. I don't eat fast food or anything like that, but sometimes I only eat once or twice a day due to inability at work. I am looking to lose weight, but am not sure what I can do for a diet. Any suggestions?

Also, I do a lot of cardio, but want to tone up. Not sure exactly what to do lifting wise. My biggest problem area is my stomach (I have something called PCOS and that's where it hits hardest). I am on Armour Thyroid and ActoPlus Met to correct the issues, but my doc said it could be a long time for the gut to go away. He didn't give me suggestions on what to do for diet or excersice...he just said to work out and eat right. I do both and no results. Just wondering if anyone has any ideas on what to do in my situation. The hours are getting better at work, so I should be able to have some regularities to my schedule. Thanks again!

I will leave it to the pro's here to answer your questions but I can tell you this. You have come to the right place to get answers. Welcome to EF :wavey:

The Shadow Project is an excellent program for your goals. Also suggest you read the "Are you new to EF Women's Board - START HERE" sticky -- you'll be asked to detail your diet & training stuff as it is today so we can suggest some tweaks. Also lots of really good threads to browse on the "TOP THREADS" sticky.

Also suggest just as an excellent intro to how nutrition works as well as a very flexible diet program and training / cardio, Bill Philips' BODY FOR LIFE book is EXCELLENT. Even if you can get it from your public library. The point is not just to get a scheduled diet, but also to understand how it all works. Its not rocket science, but its not intuitively obvious either and that's usually where people first approach it all wrong and then get frustrated because they don't understand it or it just doesnt' work. Get the basics and a lot of things start to fall into place. Its an easy read too.
