Your probably less than 15% BF based on your picture, maybe more like 12%. You really dont have a lot of fat to lose so for you to get down to 175, your going to have to lose a lot of muscle mass. Assuming your around 12% BF, losing 4% BF would only equate to around 8-9lbs which would take you down to just under 200.

Do you currently lift weights at all? Whats your rep/set scheme look like?

IF you do lift your going to have to cut way back on the reps so as to try and avoid mass gains and focus on strength/CNS. Gonna have to cut calories as well.

Ok and by the way I meant to add that I am 5'9" and I lift once or twice a week, I also do a lot of cross fit training five days a week. Does anyone have any suggestions on supplements I can take that may help?

Your in a tough spot because you dont have a lot of fat to lose. That means to get to your goal weight your going to have to sacrifice muscle. Taking PH's isnt going to help you lose muscle. If you want to lose muscle the only real way is to cut cals but its likely going to cut into your stamina and affect your workouts until your body gets used to its new weight etc.

i remember you posting a few months back. you have too much mass on your frame and at your height there is no way you will weight 170's unless you lose muscle as ziggie said. you aren't 15% body fat, you are in the low teens.

you want to get down to that weight for MMA i seem to recall. you need to work with a trainer to fine tune your plans and you need to consider fighting in a higher weight class.

I agree here... you just don't have a lot of room to lose... i bet you could drop around 10 lbs. without too much strength loss but after that point your going to notice a big difference and its going to result in mass and strength loss... with the amount of cardio you say your doing, it makes me wonder what your diet is like? that would help if you could post that...

as others said. your gonna run into problems if u wanna drop that much since you dont have much fat to loose in the first place. thats really just gonna be a personal choice man

I'm going to eliminate bread pasta and rice lower my sugar and salt intake I live in Orlando and heat out here I train inside and outside all day so I need energy I'm just scared I'll look scrawny at 170 what do you guys think I can't fight in higher weight class the guys are too tall reach is outrageous I don't mind loosing 20 pounds of muscle mass I figure when I get down I'll through some anavar or primo or maybe halo into my diet get my strength back up I just maybe need a regiment this sucks I have till end off august

The problem I see is your going to feel small and weak. Its going to be tough to maintain your conditioning while losing that much muscle due to the calorie restriction.

If you have been at your current mass for some time you may actually find it very difficult to get where you want. Your body seems to acclimate to a given weight so even if you drop the mass you may very well find that when you hit your target weight and start training hard again that the mass will come back.

Ever since I started training 25 years ago and left the 200lb mark way behind me I have only been under 200lbs one time and it was due to some serious life issues that kept me out of the gym, I also wasnt sleeping and would only eat once about every 3 days or so. Even with all that abuse I still only dropped to 195 and people who hadnt seen me for a while though I had cancer or something. Long story short, ive been over 220 for so long that the only way I can even get below 220 is to eat super clean, do lots of cardio and no lifting. Once I start lifting the mass just comes right back.

Time to get catabolic to meet those type of goals, Son. Is that something that you really want to do?

you summed it up in 2 sentences. seems like he wants to fight in a weight category he is just too muscular for instead of take his god given genetics that he obviously has and work ethic to fight in maybe 1 category less by losing a few pounds.

So my question is crossfit training bad and and how Do I get catabolic and I guess that's the only way damn that sucks will I be able to see muscle tone?

Damn Cuz ... I'm am getting nervous on your behlaf. I have been averaging around 205 for some time now and I dropped down to 165 in order to compete in a class where I felt comfortable due my speed and agility ... and I actually REACHED my goal weight 14wk before weigh in ... it gave me 3 months to become accustomed to that weight and I STILL didn't feel like I had the energy and stamina I required to compete properly. Now I'm hanging around my usual 205 again, but busy upping it to 230 ... and I didn't even have as much muscle density on my frame as you do now. There are ways to get to your weight, but I do not like the prospects awaiting you once you get there. You will also, like me, be VERY prone to injury and illness while at that weight class.

Like I said, it CAN be done ... but it's-a-gonna be nasty son! :D

Let me know I'm willing to go to the limit I'm a rare fighter purple belt jiu jitsu, wrestling state champ a all around striker I played strong safety and running back in highschool and college just a all around athlete with great genetics I just need some tweeking I was 180 all the way till I turned 23 I'm 27 now I jumped alot

bro just remember what happened to roy jones jr... once he went up in weight and tried to drop dramatically he was just never the same... it was right after he did that when his career started to go down... he never had the proper energy again... and he started off much smaller... its so fucking hard to drop weight dramatically like your trying to do and then perform at a high level... i mean 5 or 10 lbs, okay, but when your getting in the 20's and 30's its just going to be tough bro...

again i would just focus on getting very lean and being very athletic and strong.

crossfit is great for mma you just need to balance it out. if you go nuts w/ crossfit you will be drained for the other aspects of your training. crossfit also takes a lot of calories to recover from and may make it difficult to drop weight. sounds backwards but ive seen it happen a lot.

you just need to put a total plan together that balances all your mma training, strength training, diet and strength.
1-2 days a week of crossfit will definitely help but 2-4x per week might be too much. all depends on what 'crossfit' workouts you are doing, what you are eating, how much you are resting, etc etc

also it is very common for athletes to put on a good amount of muscle in their late 20's

So this is my regiment 10 am 1 hr of cardio kickboxing that's like shadow boxing then 11 is heavy bag work for an hour at 12 I eat lunch then at 1 pm go to leafiness for 10 min of jacuzzi then 20 min in on stair master then I'm done with that by 3 at 5 o'clock I'm back to combat club for 30 min of non stop cross fit then soon as I'm done 1 and half of striking muay Thai then at 7 jiu jitsu that's my whole day of training why I'm not 100 lbs I can't tell you?

I dont see why you wanna throw away all that genetic potential. You could be a bad ass 189 lb, or even a jaked 205. You could get your weight up to 220 and cut 15lbs of water. So what if a taller guy has reach, his height wont mean shit when your on top of him beating his face in. You were a state champ in wrestling right, that means they are going to have a hell of a time stopping you from taking them down. And with all that strength and mass you could dominate them on the ground. Really the only advantage they would have is reach. You would be bigger, stronger, more explosive, faster, and the same or better conditioning. You were born great genetics, ride that train while you can.

^^^ gotta agree

what made you pick that weight class why not one just a bit higher?

no matter what to get that low you would have to pass one weight class. I would try that one first. Just get to like 8% and see how you fight then.

take it one step at a time instead of thinking you have to do it all at once.
