Need advice regarding GH

New member
Hello everyone ~ What a great website. I'm looking for some advice. I'm 39 and weigh about 145 pds and 5'5". This is the heaviest I've been. My idea weight is around 128. After two kids though and getting into my late 30's it crept upon me. I'm very familiar to the gym having worked out since my 20's and my husband used to be a body builder. This is my question, I want to lose this weight by April. We have some GH (nutropin) and I want to use this wisely, so I'm looking for some wisdom here on the best way to use this. I work out with weights and do cardio 3 times a week. My cardio is mainly cycling class and running. I just want to lose weight, but it's just so hard for some reason. I eat pretty healthy, drink a lot of water, with an occasional desert. My husband has used various stuff to get bigger, but not used GH and being a guy he isn't sure how to help me with using this to lose weight. I truly appreciate your help. Thanks so much~ Rae

Hey Rae --- well doesnt sound like you really have that much to lose. I'm 40 and compete in amateur BB - I do weight swings of 20-30 lb at least 1x/yr. It sux but it comes w/ the territory.

First, I'm just gonna lay it down about the GH - its not bad stuff, assuming you've already had a thorough physica & verified that you don't have any cancer -- the one thing to watch about GH is that it will encourage cell growth, and if the cells are cancerous, you don't want them to grow - so eliminate that first. But as w/ any supplement, controlled or OTC - they are just SUPPLEMENTS to an already existing & well-established & consistent diet & training program. GH in particular is more of a long term thing like run it for 3-6 months before seeing results. Some people claim to have amazing results, but I have yet to see a documented case. So what I'm saying is, don't look to the Gh to make the difference for you.

Let's go back to what I really want to get to --- before any supplement is going to make a difference, you have to have your diet & training in order. Diet is 80% of your progress so even if you say you "eat pretty healthy" there's always an opportunity to optimize or retweak your diet. Can you post up EXACTLY what you eat on a typical day - the time you eat, how much you eat, e.g.

meal 1: 6 am
1/2 c oatmeal
1 whole egg + 2 egg whites

meal 2: 9 am
4 oz chicken
2 c salad
etc

and also your training & cardio split. That will help us take a look at ways to optimize what you are doing to get where you want to go.

Thank you for taking the time to answer my question. I follow a good healthy diet of chicken, fish, oatmeal, eggwhites, good veggies, fruit, etc. most days w/ a "fat" day once a week of eating whatever I want. I train w/ weights 3 x a week. I do a full body work out and follow w/ cardio, either running or RPM. Maybe it's age, I can't figure it out, but I work out so hard and have this layer of fat across my back and my hips that was never there before! And I can't seem to get it off no matter how hard I work out. I think I'm going to go to four days in the gym (w/ the fifth day for running only). I was looking to the GH to give a little boost to my metabolism. I don't want to become dependant on anything outside of working out and eating good. Those two are the foundation of staying in shape. It's not something I want to take for a long period of time either. Just looking for advice on the best way to do it and how much to do to get my body out of this slump.

Hey -- though age may introduce some challenges, it doens't mean its a no -go -- like i said I'm 40 & I go thru this for competition.

What I'm trying to get at is a thorough review of your current diet - sometimes you just have to tweak it a little more to optimize-- like Dr. Phil says about whatever you are doing now & the results you aren't getting --"How's that workin for ya?" So what I'm saying is can you please post up EXACTLY what your meal schedule is on a typical day & we can see if there are some things we can do to get you to where you want to go.

Can you post up in detail like my example in my last post EXACTLY what you eat, how much & when.

Liks Sassy said in her previous 2 posts, we need to see EXACTS amounts in order to really help and assist you. This means EXACT diet and training routine. Sassy told you how to list your diet in her 1st post.

As you mentioned, diet and training are the foundation. Once we know yout foundation is solid, then guidance becomes easier. If there are imprevments to be made in these areas, then you are MUCH better off tweaking those BEFORE adding drugs. Drugs and supplements are simply the house you build on the foundation. If the foundation is not tight, then everything crumbles.

Thanks Daisy for your input. You and Sassy are right. My diet needs tweaking. Last night my husband and kids ate pizza and I ate one chicken breast and a sweet potato. I would have had that pizza though! My biggest challenge is that we are a family on the go and sometimes it is soooo easy to pick something up somewhere. Today I had oatmeal and 2 egg whites for breakfast; and orange for a snack; a turkey and swiss cheese sandwich on whole wheat bread for lunch and a baked chicken breast w/ pineapple, mushrooms and green peppers w/ brown rice for dinner. I also had two oreos. Is that a bad day? It seems like a good day to me. This is usually what I eat most days and we eat out about two days a week. I bought hydrocut also to boost my metabolism.

While far be it from me to diss Hydroxycut (lol), the vast majority of OTC fat burners will do very little to boost metabolism. Most will burn an extra 150 calories a day, at most.

The best metabolism booster I know of is Thermorexin from the AF Store (www.anabolicfitness.net). ALL their supplements kick ass.

As for diet ..... you did not give amounts. For example - 1 cup oatmeal, 4oz chicken breast, etc. This matters A LOT.

As for what you ate .... it does not appear to be a lot. How are your calories? I would use FITDAY to help you gauge this.

Your breakfast looks pretty small - and there is no fat in there either. Some like to separate fat and carbs though. I never have, and things have worked out fine for me. But everyone is different. Also, I would increase your protein at this meal. 2 egg whites is about 12g protein - WAY too low.

Snack - an orange? Where is the protein? The fat? I bet this snack keeps you satisfied for about 10 minutes.

Sandwich - bread is seriously processed and generally not a good diet food. It all depends on how serious you want to be, how CLEAN you want your diet to be.

Baked chicken - breaded at all? Or just plain?

WHere is your fat intake? I see ONE source of fat ... a slice of swiss cheese. That sucks. You need to add some healthy fat - olive oil, flaxseeds, buts.

Your protein also looks pitifully low.

Hey Daisy - I just pulled that up and I'm going to spend tomorrow reading up on that as well as the other Anafit products you mentioned. I pulled their website up as well. I'm trying to keep myself from giving up on this weight loss thing . . . Geez, it's so hard when I don't see the results like I did when I was 25. Take care ~ RRae

Hey Rare -- once you get thru the set up on fitday.com you'll see where you are at - its a fantastic tool to see what you are really doing. It usually shows some really easy places to make some tweaks. Then after that you don't have to spend so much time on figuring out the food part of the fitness program.

Then the challenge is just keeping it consistent for like 3 weeks, and then you start to see the results. Like DG said, I've never seen the thermos do much of anything aside from give u a kick in the pants before hitting the gym. I've tried all of them since the early 90s and its still back to the diet to get results.

But what I really want to say is, I'm a bit older than you - I've lifted my whole life and developed a strong base of muscle but never figured out the diet part until I actually competed at age 35. I'm in better shape (well not exactly right now, but in a few months!) than I ever was at age 25. PLUS, you have some beautiful kids and you are still kicking! (I have a cat...) Don't get in the mindset that its all down hill from here. I will continue to throw my parents up as examples of the fitness lifestyle - they are 65 & 67 yrs old. They do pilates & step classes 3x/week and walk 5 miles every day. My mom & I fight about how she thinks I eat too much protein & she doesn't eat nearly enough - If I had my way, I'd have her eat at least 12 oz more protein / day & do more resistance training, but hey, I guess she's done pretty good so far.

I guess my point is that you see women competing in figure & bodybuilding well into their 40s and these are two of the few sports that can be done after age 30 because of that wonderful thing called "muscle maturity". The metabolism thing does present some challenges but when you figure out what works for your body, it will still work!

So anyway, dont' give up -- LOL we won't let you!

Don't give up. You CAN do this. Dieting and training is an ever-changing thing. You are never the same person day to day, month to month, year to year. Things are different as you get older, as you have a baby, as you change. It just means that you have to stay one step ahead and get TONS of tools in your arsenal! :)
